On Tap at Smoke and Barrel. Pours a clear, dark orange with some wispy, white head. Nose was very approachable, citrus, lemon, heavy orange, orange candy, some soap, grapefruit, some hints of booze. Flavor is malty, sweet, a strong malt component that borders on candy, orange, grapefruit, orange. Medium bodied, slightly resinous finish.

Pours dark brown with a medium frothy khaki head that dissipates slowly. Stricky rings of lacing on the glass. Malty aroma with chocolate and hops notes. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, chocolate and mild fruity hops. The finish is sweet with a cocoa malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

12oz pour at the Whole Foods Fair Lakes location. Poured a pretty golden orange color with a very small, wispy head. Aroma is citrus, notes of tropical fruits. Flavor is juicy tropical fruits, some orange. Touch of booze noticeable. Overall it is pretty enjoyable.

Re-rate from last week during DC Beer Week: Very fresh, tropical fruits come out on this. Original rating: 3.6/5.

12oz bottle pours a hazy, deep garnet amber with some thin, white head. Nose of stale malt, a little cedar, some raisin, slightly oxidized, some plum. Flavor is malty, raisin, orange, cardboard, cracker. Medium, dry finish. Not like any scotch ale I’ve had. A bit too weak.

Pizzeria Paradiso, Georgetown tap ($6): Pours black with a light brown head. Aroma is lightly smoked roast, with some coffee and barely any chocolate. Taste is, however, underwhelming. No flavor really stands out. Body is far too light. Doesn’t feel like I am drinking a big beer at all. I think that they should have given this one a few more trys before putting this out.
