Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (31B: carob / 30A: vanilla - Base: 15B). Bottle 33 cl - Batch 888/889 (BB 06/2025). AROMA: medium to medium-high roasted malt with notes of coffee, slight dark chocolate and nuttiness. low carob background aroma. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color and opaque. medium-low light brown head, creamy, with average retention for style. TASTE: similar to the aroma with initial medium nuttiness, followed by medium-low malt roasted notes (coffee-like). medium-low bitterness initially that evolves into medium due to roasted malts. almost dry finish with a roasty character. MOUTHFEEL: medium body with a smooth character. medium-low carbonation. OVERALL: a stout more resembling an oatmeal stout (even more so because of the listed oats in the ingredients), with an added touch from the carob in the aroma. the vanilla is absent from the aroma and the flavor.
