On tap in Glasgow. Nice orange body with modest head, highly drinkable but simplistic hops layering. Okay but forgettable.

500ml bottle, many thanks to JohnRMurdoch. Rocky beige head that receded to a remaining layer. Unclear, dark organge coloured body. Juicy malts on the nose, hints of berries. Blended taste of mid-sweet dark malts, blackcurrant, nuts and apricot. Subdued hoppy endnotes. Medium bodied. Quite alright (hotel room, Edinburgh 11.08.2013).

Cask at The Hanging Bat. Clear amber pour with a good, long-lasting, white head. Aromas of biscuit, caramel, and faint grassy hops. Smooth, easy drinking, good malt-sweet finish, with balancing bitterness just coming through. Lovely.

Bottle from Beer Hive, Edinburgh [310813]
Very dark brown, bit of a gusher, huge frothy tan head, some lacing, good head retention
Aroma - Fruity caramel malts, some soft mellow roast, touch of yeast
Taste - Caramel malts, dark fruits, soft roasted malts, some liquorice, brown bread, slight coffee, alcohol very well hidden, fruity toffee, dab of yeast
Palate - Medium carb (after it had calmed down), fairly full body, smooth fruity quite sweet malts. Finish as main flavour, smooth, dark fruits, soft brown bread crust in linger
Overall - Decent Porter, palate smoother once the carbonation had calmed down.

50cl bottle thanks to Anthony. This is an ale that definitely is in the Scottish tradition. The extra level of alcohol has brought out a rich raisin aroma and taste and there is just enough freshness on the finish to make you want more - shame I ended up sharing this one.

Bottle shared at home. Pours dark red-brown with a thick creamy head. Big malt and raisin aromas, luscious. Nuts and biscuit also. Caramel and toffee. Lovely subtle balancing bitterness to all that malt-sweet. A stunning beer.

Cask at the Bat. Another solid beer from Luckie. Reminded me of Irish Red ales, red fruits and cereal, some toffee. No carbonation, being cask, well-balanced bittersweet finish. Enjoyed this.
