Scopey 5K Tasting in deepest Croydonia. Barbados tick thanks to our 5K host.Paulio! Opaque dark brown beer, small pale cream coloured head. Palate is light airy and dry. Very sweet malt, little oxidised tasting caramel. Light sweet ripe fruits and a light dry finish. Sweet and somewhat messy.

275ml bottle from Tesco ethnic section - Jet black with a thin tan top. Nose of liquorice, ash and coffee grounds. Taste is like a milky strong coffee, with a soft carbonation and lubricious mouthfeel making it even smoother, Not much in the finish, but it is still a very good little drink.

Bottle at home. It pours near black with a small tan head. The nose is sweet, brown bread, earth, fruit cake and brown sugar. The taste is cheap chocolate, brown sugar, cocoa, watery, treacle, toasty and earth with dry finish. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. So-so, but pretty easy going.

The beer starts malty, slightly grainy. Crisp and not too sweet. The mainpart is fullbodied, slightly grainy and a bit metallic till the end. The aftertaste is slightly bitter, malty-grainy and a bit bitter-metallic. --> not bad, drinkable, but nothing great! --> 6/12/5/6
