At the taproom. Slightly hazed yellow color. Lacing white head. Dry and herbal aroma, some yeast. Flavor is a little unusual, a little sweeter thn i wxpected woth malt sugar but dry hops, bread dough and plants. Sry hops linger after the sweet malt fades.

Sampled from the tap at Minnesota Winterfest 2017. Pours near black with a caramel dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a lot of earthy dark grains, toffee, and bread with a bit of soy sauce underlying. Flavor has a lot of dark grains, toffee, umami and a bit of chocolate.

Clear amber-gold color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing. Aroma of piney hops, citrus and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of resiny hops, grapefruit and grainy malt. The finish is fruity hops up front with a malty aftertaste. Above average overall.

750 mL bottle, shared. Thanks TheHoff43! It’s been a while since you sent this to me. Pours unclear brown, with a small, tan head. The aroma is intense toffee, vanilla, syrup, walnuts, and rye. Sweet and boozy, with a mild bitterness that serves to balance this out nicely. Heavy body, sticky, warming, and clinging. This is a lovely beer, and the barrel adds a nice level of character.

22 oz bottle poured, from France44. Labeled as Rainmaker India Red Ale. Very well made amber here. A memorable flavor for sure. Sweet caramel and wood aroma to it. Rocky tan foam head. A good balance of rich malt, and bittering hops. Another wood reminder in there, but mild. Cool finish. Flavorful. Excellent red here.

Bottle split at RBWG ’16 hotel lobby share, thanks to whoever brought this one, 01/02/16. Clear golden orange with a well appointed egg shell white head. Nose is orange pith, straw, earthy hop exhaust, toasted pine, grapefruit. Taste comprises bitter orange, pine, caramel malt, grapefruit, soft bread, tangerine, mango. Medium + body, fine carbonation, drying close peppered with semi aggressive hop bitterness. Ok DIPA ... drinks well for the ABV but there’s plenty out there less intense than this one that deliver more of what I crave from the style.
