Fles thuis geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is een diep donkerbruin bier met weinig tot geen schuim. Het heeft een aroma van hout, vanille en cognac. De smaak is vol fruitig rozijnen, vanille en een alcoholische cognac afdronk.

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Sweet and yeasty with notes of banana, bready malt, esters, spicy notes, sugar, candied fruits. Flavour is sweet with a welcome moderate bittersweet finish. Body is medium. Nice bittersweet Tripel with dominant banana in the aroma.

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is spicy yeast, malt, coriander, some noble hop in the finish. Flavour is moderate sweet and light to mild bitter. Body is medium. A fine drinkable blond with a welcome touch of bittering hop.

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Big tonka upfront with some roast, burnt notes, bourbon, alcohol, dried fruit, oak. Potent bittersweet flavour with some booze, medium to full body. Strong with a rich aroma, boozy, very nice.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, amber colour with average, frothy, rapidly diminishing, off-white head. Caramel malty and phenolic, yeasty fruity aroma, notes of apple, baked apple, a touch of honey. Taste is sweet-ish, caramel malty and slightly yeasty fruity, hints of banana, baked banana, baked apple, some honey. Watery texture, rather indifferent palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation. NIce taste, some off-flavours in the nose - meh!

Can at home, darker almost amber beer, small head. Aroma is malt, caramel, citrus, hops. Taste is the same, malt, caramel, citrus, hops, resinous bitter, nice one.

I have 33 cl bottle obtained from Smaakhuis earlier in the year. I'm ready to our into the Chimay glass I like for Belgian ales and so I do. The body is a dark caramel completed by a bare ring of taupe, extremely fine, bubbles but I do see an active stream of carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass. I appreciate the scent, very much the classic approach. Dates, brown sugar, grain and yeast. The taste is in line with the nose, quite all right, perhaps even better than that. A surprising first impression of chocolate, then ripe figs, baked bread, malt, leather, dark raisins and a small toffee sweetness. My expectations were low and this beer blew past that level.
