Bottle as the "555". Pours ruddy copper with a slight, rapidly disappearing foamy beige head. Somewhat nutty and fruity aromas. Meidum body with sharp carbonation. Flavor is roasted malt, a touch of nutty, and definite grassy hop. Finishes fairly well balanced. Not great, but drinkable.

Sample at the "From Russia With Suds" tasting on 01/02/10: This brew is a clear amber-yellow color with a medium thick and fluffy off-white head that has good retention. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of grainy malt and a touch of skunk. Light body with flavors of spiced hops, doughy malt and more skunk. The finish is mildly hoppy with a lingering bitterness. Below average overall.

Dark green bottle and a dark beer make for an interesting pour. Some cabbbage aroma but not in a bad way. First taste is darkish and just a tad of bitterness. Dark yet no gunk on bottom of bottle. Mostly enjoyable flavors are roasty and like some burned wet sood but it is not overwhelming in any way. Has enough beer personality to make it a beer but not enough to make it rude. Decent carbonation too. Finish has some of that typical pilsner bte so common in many of the beers from Check. It says on the side of the bottle: This brand is immediately intended for refreshing the humankind’s neater half. ...well I’m not sure about that, heheheh. It does however have this mild weird kinda tartness to it on the finish, if you look.

(bottle, as Bakalář 555) Clear, amber colour with a medium-sized, slightly tanned foamy head. Slightly dusty and moderately sweet cara-malty and bready aroma with distinctive Saaz-hoppy notes. Moderately sweet flavour with a tinge of bitterness, full bodied with a medium carbonation. Cara-malty, subtle fruity and bready taste with a good dash of Saaz hops; sweet and slightly bitter malt-accented finish with woody and slightly fruity hops. 16.IX.09

Bottle 500ml. @ home.Clear medium red amber color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is light moderate malty, fruity, light roasted and caramel, brown sugar notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Body is light medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20091009]

Bottle 500ml. @ home.Clear medium yellow amber color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, grain, toasted, caramel notes, cardboard - oxidide malt notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, old malt. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. [20091009]

Biggish offwhite coarseish head. Darkish red body. Grassy toffee marzipan aroma. Dry-sweetish grassy roasty malty taste with wild berry and marzipan notes. Fullish body. Slightly warming mouthfeel from the alcohol. Dry-sweetish grassy roasty marzipan aftertaste. It’s really the dry-sweet balance which makes the beer, tilted slightly towards the dry, and with a lovely hop character. Excellent, subtle, and understated. (0.5l bottle from Pivovarsky Klub, Prague.)

Bottled (BB 01/2010)
Clear dark brown-amber color, small off-white head. Roasted caramel and grainy maltyness in the nose. Medium bodied. Sweet caramel with grassy hoppyness. Quite watery ifinish. Grassy, alcoholic aftertaste. Simple doppelbock.

Bottled. Amber colour, mediumsized beige head that turns small quite quickly. Aroma is mild cigarsmokeish fruity roasted malts along with some alcohol and some mild notes of caramel. Flavour is roasted malts, caramel, some slight toasted notes. Also some alcoholic sweetness. Quite complex and actually drinkable strong bock.

Bottle. Medium head with medium duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are malt, straw and a decent amount of hops. Nice bitter finish.
