Bierbrouwerij Vermeersen

Microbrewery in Hulst, Zeeland, Netherlands 🇳🇱

Established in 1991

Contact
31965, Absdaalseweg 2, Hulst, 4561 GG, Netherlands
Description
The history of the brewery begins in 1821, when Messrs Wauters, Faseert and Neyt founded the Halve Maan brewery in Hulst. The Hulsterse Brouwers persist in brewing top-fermented beer. Even when all other Dutch breweries brew Pilsener, traditional beer still flows from the kettles in Hulst. In 1968, the brewery in the city center of Hulst was closed and the cellar rights were sold to Paul Vermeersen, who before then was a distributor of Hulster beer.

In 1989, a new brewery was put into use on the Absdaalseweg. From 2010, the old brewery installation was thoroughly modernized. In 2016, the name “Beer Brewery Vermeersen” was adopted. The brewery is currently focusing on brewing beautifully balanced beers from, as far as possible, local ingredients for the Zeeland Market.

250ml bottle. Clear, yellow-ish, golden colour with small to average, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Wheaty malty and zesty, citrusy fruity, minimally herbal-spicy aroma, hints of orange peel, a touch of coriander. Taste is sweet-ish, wheaty malty, slightly citrusy fruity and minimally herbal-spicy, hints of orange peel, a touch of coriander; minimally soapy finish.
Oily-watery texture, smooth and soft palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation.
More than clean, almost aseptic - does not shift me into an enthusiastic mood.

Są tu nuty słodowe, ziemiste, piwniczne, przyprawowe (pieprz, kolendra), ziołowe i minimalnie owocowe.
Smak zdecydowanie wytrawny. Chmielowa goryczka wydaje się być wysoka i długa, co sprzyja pijalności tego Tripel'a
.
Alkohol schowany. Wysycenie wysokie, nadaje piwu pełności. Ciało jednak tylko średnie. Tekstura gładka, krągła. Posmak długi wytrawny, ziołowy.

Taste: pretty sweet, ripe banana, a little bitter, spicy touch, very yeasty, some coriander. Aftertaste: more sweet ripe banana, a bit spicy, sugary, coriander, yeasty, meh.

0.33l bottle, thx Fil for sharing with Ryan and me! Clear golden body, off-white head. Spicy notes, banana and alcohol. Lean, light body, good carbonation, sparkling even, caramelly maltiness, banana, citric touches, sweetish, bitterish finish. Nice enough!

Kolor bursztynowy, klarowny. Piana biała, niska i nie trwała. Topnieje do cienkiej warstwy i grubszego pierścienia. Ładnie krążkuje.
Aromat słodki słodowy z nutą kolendry i akcentów roślinnych.
Smak delikatnie słodki (słodowy) z mocniejszym, wytrawnym akcentem.
Wysycenie średnie w górę. Tekstura przyjemnie miękka, puszysta. Ciało średnie. Posmak długi, słodkawy z wyraźnym goryczkowym kontrastem.

Aroma of wheat, fruits, lemon and some spices. Flavour is similar. Simply a nice but unremarkable Belgian White.

Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, with some dark fruity notes, spices. Flavour is sweet malts. This is a very malty beer, a bit unremarkable, but I enjoyed it.

Bottle at De Markies, Leeuwarden. Aroma of malt, bread, caramel, toffee, nuts, candy, sweet dark fruits. Flavour is rather sugary sweet. Body is medium to full. This beer has got the aroma and full body down, but is ruined by a massive sugary sweetness.

Bottle from Kisjes Slijterijen, Meppel. Starts out as typical Dubbel aroma of sweetish malt, caramel, candy sugar and raisins, but yields some suble but pleasant notes of curaçao down the road. Quite sweet sugary flavour with a light to moderate bitter finish. Medium bodied. Not a bad Dubbel at all, I like the use of curaçao.
