[Cask at the Royal Standard of England, Beaconsfield] Gold, half-hearted white head, slight to moderate carbonation; the appearance seems to be paying homage to industrial lagers! Fortunately it tastes much better than it looks - citrus flavours are at the forefront, with a bit of pine, some wheatabix malt and a moderate bitterness. It’s a reasonable refresher, if a little on the thin side. Went down a treat after the hike here from Beaconsfield station!

(Cask at Carpenter’s Arms, Marble Arch, London, 22 May 2011) Amber colour with frothy, white head. Fruity nose with orange, apricots, biscuits and hints of toast. Fruity, slightly malty taste with notes of orange peel, apricots, hints of toast and biscuity malt. Rather light body, with balanced sweetness and a mild bitterness. Quite nice.

(Cask at Southampton Arms, Kentish Town, London, 19 May 2011) Dark brown colour, almost black, with foamy beige head. Roasted, hoppy taste with notes of citrus, liquorice, dark bread and fresh hops. Roasted, malty, hoppy taste with liquorice, pine needles, grapefruit, ashes, black coffee and a generous piney bitterness in the finish. Medium body, fairly sweet. Really enjoyable, with a little more body and alcohol, this would be brilliant. Still, very nice.

Bottle. Pours very dark brown with a coarse bubbly tan head. Aroma of pine over chocolate. Smells better than the words imply. Med body. Evergreen and chocolate. Bit chalky. Goes a little coffee/chocolate. I think. Finishes fairly dry and mildly bitter. Drinks well.

Cask at the Greenwich Wetherspoons. Pours hazy amber with a creamy off-white head. Fruity aroma. Flavors of light roast caramel, citric fruit and a little wood. Moderately bitter finish. With time wood becomes oak. Sort of.

On tap at the Old Fountain.Slightly hazy gold beer, small white head. Light semi dry palate. A little lagerish malt with a tiny bit of hop. Lots of freshly cut lemon! Dry finish with a fresh lemon aftertaste. Not sublte but actually quite enjoyed this. Certainly a palate livener!

Cask at the Jolly Butchers on the 29th April 2011, day of the Royal Wedding. Amber with virtually no head. Lemony citrus bite and bitter kick. Touch of butterscotch but also slight saltiness. Textured mouthfeel, sweet aftertaste and a butterscotch creamy finish.
