Dark reddish brown. A Very malty ale and full bodied ale. Slightly fruity nose, a bit roasty, mild and sweet, but most of all - malty. A well made tasty and true to style Scottish style ale.

Late 2001 edition: a rye based beer. Nicely zesty - with that great light tingle of nuttiness from rye. Moderate bitterness and smooth sweetness makes this one of the preferable winter beers this year. Amber color with firm lasting head and lacing. Aroma is complex with hints of spice and unusual malts.

Totally authentic German flavor. Citrusy banana-ey spicey flavor. Cloudy golden color. Quenching. Just Right.

Nice brownish color, light to no head - served improperly and very cold. After warming, it was a wonderful malty treat, with a complex tangy and sweet malt profile, with a nice balancing bitterness. Lingering tangy aftertaste (hops or rye?).
