At first appearing black in the glass, I found it was actually a beautiful deep garnet red when held to the light. Good sized light tan head lasted a fair length. Aroma was definitely smoky. Flavor was malty sweet and smoky. The bottle-conditioning endowed it with a smooth creamy carbonation and almost velvety mouthfeel. Alcohol presence was noticeable and warming.

Very cloudy - opaque light brown color, almost like an extra-cloudy apple cider. No head, with creamy med carbonation. Aroma is spicy and clovey. Flavor is mainly sweet, with lots of spicy notes of clove and yeasty/breadiness. Medium bodied.

Bright golden color- light head, but good lacing. Medium carbonation. Slight, clean aroma, mostly of Saaz hops. Flavor is clean, malty sweet. Light yet pronounced flavor. Outstanding pils.

Loved this dark lager. Very rich and complex. Fans of serious dark lagers will want to hunt down any bottles they may have left.

This is perhaps one of the best beers I've ever tried, and certainly the best new beer I've discovered in a long time. Not quite a doppelbock in strength, but close. Malty sweet with a nice bitterness, with a warming sweet aftertaste. It comes bottle-conditioned in big 765mL bottles. This beer is so drinkable that I quaffed an entire one of these bottles within 20 minutes without any effort whatsoever. Seek out this beer!
