Description
In 1449, Urbar von Wallsee first mentioned a brewery in Hofstetten. This is the oldest record we have of a brewery at this location, and it is a date that has granted us a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the Oldest Brewery in Austria. The tavern/brewery has been in the hands of the Krammer Family since 1847. Now in our fifth generation, we still proudly combine hops and malt daily to make the beautiful product of beer.

At a tasting, thanks, almost no head, cloudy light brown to red color, aroma of dried fruits, strawberry jam and a hint of sour bread, flavor of jam cake, alcohol creeping in. Unbalanced, much too sweet and not really good.

330 ml from Verde 1080, Vienna.
Golden, moderately hazy body, with a medium, frothy, a bit lacing, white head.
Aroma of grains, grass, bread, some ripe fruits, some citrus, some honey.
Tastes of sweet bread, grass, some herbs, some sweet and citric fruits, honey.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes moderate bitter, citric, grassy, sweet malty, slightly herbal.

Nice one, but not so special. A quite typical lager beer, with some more fruity hops and a bit more malt body. Overall I enjoyed the first Neuhauser version more, while this still is an enjoyable, refreshing beer.

Bottle, thanks Werckmeister! Opaque very dark brown liquid with small, lingering tan head. Aroma of dark fruit, pumpernickel, toast, light chocolate, wort, light ash, raw sugar and sweet alcohol. Taste is medium sweet and very light bitter with notes of raw sugar, caramel, toffee, booze and light chocolate. Full bodied with low to medium carbonation. Really nice, super malty and complex. Booze isn’t pretty well hidden for the ABV and not harsh in any way.
