Description
In 1449, Urbar von Wallsee first mentioned a brewery in Hofstetten. This is the oldest record we have of a brewery at this location, and it is a date that has granted us a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the Oldest Brewery in Austria. The tavern/brewery has been in the hands of the Krammer Family since 1847. Now in our fifth generation, we still proudly combine hops and malt daily to make the beautiful product of beer.

750 ml bottle from Ammersin 5, Vienna.
Dark amber, brownish, hazy body, with a medium, creamy, beige head.
Sour, fruity aroma, with Brett, apples, berries, lemongrass, dried fruits, red wine, barrel notes, subtle sweet dark malts.
Taste with lots of dry red wine barrel notes, Brett, sour fruits, overall very dry.
Medium, slck to oily mouthfeel, with a low carbonation.
Finishes dry, sour, tart, with long-lasting barrel notes.

Tasty! The nose is really great, complex. The taste doesn’t fully live up in my opinion, not as complex as the nose, while the red wine barrel notes are very nice. The base beer isn’t recognisable at all. Unfortunately this is very expensive, so I don’t think I’ll have this again, as much as I enjoyed it.

330 ml bottle from Biertempel Online Shop.
Dark copper body, with an average, creamy, beige head.
Lovely, full, sweet aroma of marzipan, sweet berries, dried fruits, caramel.
Taste is boozy, with dried fruits, lots of spices like pepper, berries, toffee, dark chocolate.
Full, creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes alcoholic, astringent, very spicy, peppery, a bit sour-fruity, slightly bitter.

Very nice! The taste is too boozy for my liking, like in almost all Eisbock beers, and also quite sharp, but still has a lot of interesting notes. The nose is really lovely though, quite unique. Not my favourite Eisbock, which is the Aventinus Eisbock and I also like the standard Granitbock a bit more, but a very good beer for sure.

Bottle shared late night during RBWG 2015. Pours Clear russet with a creamy tan head. The aroma holds mild caramel, bread, butterscotch, dried fruits. Big sweet flavor, a bit metallic and tangy, with touches of cherry, salt, meat. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Tangy finish with grating metal, berries, understated caramel. Rough.

330 ml bottle from Biertempel Online Shop.
Dark golden to amber, hazy body, with a small, creamy, white head, that dissipates quickly.
Aroma of dried fruits, citrus, peach, honey, some alcohol.
Taste is smooth honey, citrus, mandarin, peach, dried fruits, some spices, alcohol booze.
Full, creamy mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes alcoholic, astringent, bitter, a bit dry, zesty, sweet malty, a bit spicy.

Very nice! As mentioned before, feels more like a hoppy Eisbock, not that much IPA character. The taste is really good though, with a nice mix of smooth malts, hops and alcohol strength. Overall an interesting attempt.
