Description
In May 1867, the Leinenkugel family brewery was founded in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin by Jacob Leinenkugel. He was a family man driven by an iron work ethic, and he knew that his German family heritage would play an integral part of his brewery’s success. Today, the sixth generation of Leinenkugels continues to brew some of the same family-inspired recipes that Jacob poured his heart and soul into. Over the years, our family has grown and so has our brewery, but our history and heritage remain at the forefront.

I popped the lid on this 2$ can and the aroma of lime permeated the area. Pour is clear pale with a large white fading head and lots of visible carbonation stream in the glass. Decent co2 level up front, could use more. Taste is rather a let down compared to the smell. It is lime, but its quite dull. It has more lime flavor compared to many mexican beers, but I think it may need a little more tartness. At least you can't forget its a lager. Yikes, comes across more like the original fruit beers of the past decade; fruity, but quite dull in the middle. I can live with this because its not as bitter or as rude as a stupid ass IPA, but it could be a little more civilized and refreshing as a mexican beer. I think many macro lager mexies are much better than this.

Bottled boring yellow. Skunk aroma plus the barest hints of rye. Meh. Nothing really good.

Aromas are slightly sweet malt with a bit of roast. Flavors are similar to nose, bittersweet. Seems like forced carbonation. Drinkable for sure but nothing to look forward to. Unless you had something worse.

Years ago (1996?) Samuel Adams had a contest for best home brews. One of the winners was a "hazelnut brown ale". I absolutely loved that beer. Needless to say it was for a “limited time” and boy did they mean it. It was around just a few months and POOF it was gone. That extremely long boring story leads me to say, from what I can remember this as close to that beer I have every tasted and yes I love it. I think it is getting low marks because of the ties to Miller/Coors but I think its wonderful and pray it will be around for years to come (Even though it’s seasonal.

Bottle. I love Marzen style beers. Even though this one is made by a beast affiliate it still holds up well. It has a great color and it is not too sweet or sour. Good beer and would recommend at least once.

Bottle. OK. Great summer type beer, even though had it in the fall. Reminds me of a good hefeweiss. A bit too cloudy in apperance but still has a great flavor and aroma. Would drink again. Recommend it.

Bottle. Well it’s an ok beer. Taste was slightly malty, watery and not any hops. Didn’t really taste the citrus as in the description. Aroma was slightly roasted grain and some earthy notes. Color a medium amber color. Might drink again but would not reach for it first.
