Description
Set in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains of Central Virginia, Blue Mountain opened in 2007 as the region’s first rural brewery. Founders Taylor and Mandi Smack and Matt Nucci had a vision to bring the brewery experience out of the normal hustle and bustle of an urban environment. Today, we’re still focused on making an inspired range of the highest-quality beers that can be enjoyed at our two locations in beautiful Nelson County, or in bottles and cans throughout Virginia and beyond.

Bottle thanks to Dan. Poured a clear gold with a white head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma had a bit of a musty lager yeast note with a bit of sweet backing grains. Flavor had a combination of grass and sweet malts with a bit of a mustiness in the finish/aftertaste.

Growler pours courtesy of jcwattsrugger. Pours darkness with tall light mocha head. Very nice looking beer. The aroma is bourbon, oaky wood notes, oaky spiciness, chocolate, black licorice and a touch of yeasty spiciness. The taste is a bit on the bright side with punchy spicy oak moving into bourbon, black licorice, yeasty spices and then growing chocolate notes. Into the finish a mild amount of spicy yeast makes it to the surface.
