Cask at the Gig House (JDW), Wokingham. Amber with a dense cream head; natural honey aroma; grainy body with an immediate sharp grapefruit bitterness that mingles with sweet honey to finish. Rather good.

[Cask at Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading] Light amber-gold, small white head, slight fizz. Toffee with orangey hints and some spice at the back of the throat. Going in the right direction for Christmas, but needs to be darker, stronger, richer and with more - well, more everything really. In other words, it’s a bit bland.

Cask at the London & County (JDW), Eastbourne. Golden amber with a tight white head; orange aroma; fruity, orange flavour that’s quite full on, then sweeter and lightly bitter with a touch of spice to finish. Quite appealing.

JDW Fest. Hazy amber, residual white head. Light palate, no carbonation. Semi dry. Insipid sweetish oraneg hop and dry malt. Doesn’t taste awful but was uninteresting to the point of being hard to swallow.

Brotiger Antrunk, weich, mild. Danach unscheinbarer, nicht unbedingt harmonisch, langweilig malzig, später auch muffig. Erst im Abgang wieder frischer durch Getreidenoten, etwas röstig. Insgesamt trinkbar aber unspektakulär. 7/7/7/8/11/7
