Unassuming look of a pale lager, a bit more gold to it perhaps. Very little foam after one minute. Some coffee nose with a side of toffee and hazelnut. Taste is, yes, big big coffee. First ring on the palate, followed by a little lager taste, toasted malt and all.
Served at a Coffee & Beer pairing, with Folklore Coffee Toffee Nut & Blackberry Latte.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours black with a brown head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has a nice peanut with a bit of roasted malts and some bourbon backing. Flavor has a nice combination of peanut butter, roast and bourbon with a hint of chocolate backing.

2024 version sampled from the the tap at the brewery. Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates nearly completely. Aroma has dark grains and coconut with some vanilla and roasted malts coming through. Flavor has vanilla and coconut with dark grains and a bit of barrel supporting.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours black with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has dark chocolate and dark grains with a good amount of rye barrel and some roast supporting. Flavor has a nice rye and dark grain combination with roasted malts and some bitter chocolate coming through.

2024 version sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours black with a large chocolate brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a boozy bourbon with dark grains and a bit of roast supporting. Flavor has bitter dark grains and dark chocolate with a bit of roast and a decent amount of bourbon supporting.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours a clear pale yellow with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of hay and straw with some oat with a bit of bread underlying. Flavor has a good amount of straw and hay with some bread and a hint of leaves.

Tap at Werk Force. A classic American Stout, a rarity these days. Booming chocolate and roast malt, pleasant bitterness. Fully enjoyable.

Tap at Werk Force. A true NZ Pale Ale, not a hazy Pale. Great hop combination...Nectaron, Motorola, NZ Cascade. Tropical seaside, a little bit of Italian Pils in there underneath. Medium bodied, enjoyable.
