Description
Many people are surprised to find out our last name is Eddy, not Sawyer. But, the occupation of a sawyer has been in Lee's family for many, many years. Those of you who know us personally already know that Lee and his dad are loggers. What most of you probably don't know is that Lee's Grandpa Eddy and Grandpa Mack were also loggers! This is how we decided on the name Sawyer Brewing Co. Our logo has four axes one for each generation.

Fairly hazy golden coloured body with a very nice, three to five centimetre tall ever so slightly off-white head taht shows a lot of bubbles all rising from the bottom. Aroma of lactose, light cream, biscuity malts, a dash of crackers and dry grass with some soft malts near the end. Light-bodied; Strong grassy and dry malts show through with some biscuits noticeable along with a touch of herbs and flowers and a tiny bit of sweetness all showing through at the end. Aftertaste shows some lighter grass and lactose, creamy notes with a tiny bit of artificial sugars and sucralose towards the end, but goes down very easily, especially in the summertime, here in South Dakota! Overall, a pungent and relatively well-balanced light ale with a dash of sugars, cream and especially the biscuity dry malts. Nice to sample and not a bad option here in the quite hot summer days in South Dakota! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Philips 66 Mini-Mart in Spearfish, South Dakota on 24-June-2020 for US$2,13 sampled in my hotel room here in Rapid City, South Dakota on 01-July-2020.

Very deep, slightly hazy pink and golden/orange tinted body with a very nice three to four centimetre microfoamed tan and pink head - very nice looking. Aroma of pure fresh raspberries with a dash of light malt and biscuits with some dry bread and yeast notes and a slightly herbal and grassy finish. Light-bodied; Fresh raspberry flavours dominate with a light tartness and a little herbal funk coming through, but the main flavour towards the middle is the dry and pungent malts that dominate and leave a light and sweet note and a hint of flowers. Aftertaste shows the fresh raspberries, a light sweetness and a crisp malt along with a light dryness from the malt and yeast that is quite refreshing, fruity and fragrant throughout. Overall, a pretty nice kolsch that's flavoured in a very nice way without being overpowering, overly fruity or too sweet. Nice to sample and well worth trying if you can find this, especially in the hot summer here in South Dakota! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased at Philips 66 Mini-Mart in Spearfish, South Dakota on 26-June-2020 for US$2,13 sampled in my hotel room here in Hot Springs, South Dakota on 28-June-2020.

Deep orange and almost ruby-tinted body with a lighter bronze glow towards the bottom, all with a relatively large four to five centimetre tall off-white and almost tan head that fades fairly slowly. Aroma of crisp, relatively strong oranges with some citrus and grapefruit zest and a dose of artificial sugars and perhaps a dose of grassiness and light hops towards the end. Light to Medium-bodied; Relatively strong citrusey and floral flavours at first with a tart flavour from the citrus fruits, but then switching to more of a bitterness and a good deal of light sweetness coming through as well, all while being very refreshing! Aftertaste is crisp, yet flavourful with the citrus notes really coming out and brightening everything up. Overall, a fairly nice, crisp and flavourful beer that shows the citrus side of things nicely while being flavorful and very easy-drinking. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased at the Phillips 66 Mini-Market in Spearfish, South Dakota on 26-June-2020 for US$2,13 sampled a few hours later in my hotel room here in Sundance, Wyoming on 26-June-2020 after hiking around Devil's Tower National Monument here in Wyoming.
