On tap at The Cooper’s Tavern, Madison. Clear medium copper under a small off white head that fades quickly leaving some fine lace. Nose is citrus and tropical fruit with light caramel. Taste follows the nose with a light sweet caramel under a moderate citrus bitterness. Mouth is medium slick with average carbonation. Nice. 8/4-/8-/4-/15

Taste is pine, mint, earth, sage like notes, pale malt, yeast. Medium bodied. Interesting, quite good.

Keg at the Riverhouse. Slightly hazy golden, thin fizzy offwhite head, good retention. Aroma of doughy malt, white bread, snappy, grassy, herbal hop. Taste is lemon, bready pale malt, grass. Medium bodied, mildly bitter finish, highly drinkable, could be just a touch crisper and drier.

Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a sturdy red color with a finger’s worth of sly white foamy head. Stringy lace.
The aroma started off with some roasted malty nuts. Some toffee/caramel sort of cleanliness hits some bitter citrus to piney hops.
The flavor takes the malts and leans them up against the bitter hops, somewhat there and somewhat not. Crisp sort of roasty malts and hop burn in the aftertaste and that hits the finish somewhat dryly.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Mild carbonation. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, even with the hop burn in the aftertaste and finish, I like this one. Seems like mostly everything fits, but also perhaps an amber ale that some may need to get used to.

12oz bottle, $11.99 sixpack. Filtered copper orange body. Creamy, respectable off-white head. Antiquated IIPA that Ale Asylum can’t seem to escape. Piny, burnt hop tones, quite resinous. Vegetal tones. Lots of caramel malt. Really not a beer that I will ever buy again. Drinkable, but completely antiquated and unimpressive. OK...for 2004, not 2017.

Bottle. Cloudy amber body with a frothy off-white head. Enticing aroma of citrus, orange, pine and toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Taste of citrus, fruit, light pine. Nicely balanced.
