Description
Taybeh Brewing Company is a family owned business established in 1994 following the Oslo Peace Agreement (1993) when David Khoury and Nadim Khoury were inspired by their late father, Canaan David Khoury (1926-2002) to return to their home village of Taybeh after spending more than twenty years in the United States and establish the first micro brewery in the Middle East.
The goal was to invest and boost the local economy by introducing new styles of natural hand crafted micro-brewed beers according to the German Purity Law with no preservatives or additives making an excellent Palestinian beer while creating a nationalistic feeling. Nadim Khoury turned his hobby of making homemade beer during college days into a career becoming the master brewer. He is very proud to pass this passion and experience to his daughter, Madees Khoury, the only female brewer in Palestine.

Bottle from Beer Market, Tel Aviv, July 2013. (my first one from Palestine) Clear golden with a white head. The aroma was a bit stale with boiled vegetables and bread. Similar taste and some notes of metal and corn. Not a tasty one.

Bottle at the GJBF Osaka. The first beer of the day. It pours a classic gold color with a decent aroma. The flavor is a blond ale but slightly more grainy than I am used to. Decent but kind of average.

Bottle at the GJBF Osaka. More of an amber than a dark color, though maybe a smidge darker than their amber. The flavor has the same kind of skunkiness to it as the amber I had though not as strong. I think they are using some smoke malts. It is quite bitter, not so well done. Their golden is their best but even that is average.

Bottle at the GJBF Osaka. A very clear amber beer but the flavor is kind of skunky. Not a nice aroma. The taste is quite skunky tasting too, some malt flavor but yuck. What happened to it???

33cl bottle thanks to Nustu. Pours dark with a reddish hue and a decent head. The nose has a sour taste again, hard cherries, Lewis says. The taste is quite sour again and it seems like itβs off.

33cl bottle. Pours golden and hazy and has a slim white head. The nose has a slight sour note, with a creamy background. The taste has sherbet but of no particularly flavour - yoghurt in fact. The palate has a light to medium body with a zingy sour finish. Overall, I think the bottle conditioning has created some sour notes.

Bottle - much thanks to KerenMK for the new country tick! Pours clear dark brown to black with a ruby tint, medium off-white head that slowly disspates with nice lacing. Aroma is malty with notes of roasted malt, caramel, grass, and perhaps a bit of metal. Flavor is the same, initially smoky and a bit salty, although the smokyness fades with time. Medium sweet with a light grassy/metallic bitterness. Medium body. Interesting and certainly drinkable.
