Description
Situated in Larbert, Tryst Brewery has been producing quality ales since 2003. John McGarva, owner and head brewer, is always focusing on adding new twists to traditional recipes to create unique takes on classic ales. All of our brews are made with Scottish malt from Mungoswells in East Lothian with additions from Bairds Malt to add depth of colour and flavour. To keep our beers evolving we use hops from all over the globe allowing for a broad range of tastes and aromas.

We are committed to doing our part for the environment at the brewery. Our used malt goes to some local farms for use in agriculture. We also use our spent hops for composting, which helps enrich our small garden, where we attempt to grow some classic British hop varieties such as Fuggle and Target.

Closed because of retirement.

As Chinook Single-Hopped Pale Ale. Cask at Bon Accord, Glasgow. Light to mid-gold, clear with. A small loose white head. Aroma of apricot and pineapple with a biscuity base. Bittersweet taste, a bit soapy. Sweet finish with floral hop. Thin flat body. Not particularly enticing but a good enough cask golden. I guess.

Cask at the Clockwork Beer Company. Ruby brown, clear, flat with only a suggestion of head. Smells of molasses and ginger cake. Enticing if muted. Gorgeous sweet taste with a gingery spicy sourness creeping in for the long finish. More ginger with chocolate cherries and some Angostura bitters in the finish. Body’s way too thin though, and the cask dispense doesn’t help this. So not perfect but certainly drinkable.
