Description
Shock Top is a traditional Belgian-Style wheat ale. It was originally created in 2006 as a seasonal brew under the name Spring Heat Spiced Wheat. After collecting gold in ’06 and bronze in ’07 in the Belgian White category at the North American Beer Awards, we decided to brew year-round and switch the name to Shock Top. We couldn’t be happier with our decision. And the best decision you can make is to try some Shock Top for yourself.

Draft. A- Pretzels, bread, dough, slightly salty. A- Brown color, hazy liquid, off white head. T- Bread, subtle salt, malty, wheat. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, soft finish. O- This is definitely a novelty and admittedly one I have wanted to try. I must say, it’s worth trying. It literally smells like a pretzel. Doesn’t quite translate into the taste, and maybe that’s a good thing but it really wasn’t bad. I wouldn’t buy a full six pack or their sampler just to get it but if I can find a single of it I wouldn’t hesitate to grab it for fun.

Bottle: Pours clear, very deep brown-amber with a really large beige head. The aroma is the high point of this one.....spot on, fresh, pretzel.... Taste is less pretzel-y..... though it’s still there....sweet wheat malt, caramel, toasted bread....salted butter.... I’ll say this, it delivers what it’s name promises....and it’s pretty tasty..... A really nice AB product........I really enjoyed it....well done.

Bottle from Albertsons. Nothing special here, but not totally gross either. Just about as generic as you can get. At least it’s not a pumpkin pie spice overload....

Bottle. Dark copper color. Aroma of pumpkin and sweet wheat. Simple taste of sweet chemical pumpkin and wheat. Not good, but not nearly as bad as most ratings make it to be.

From a bottle. Light, artificial raspberry flavor. Minimally sweet. I don’t know how you would add "natural raspberry flavor" but not add actual raspberries, but it appears they have figured out a way. The flavor of natural raspberries, maybe?

Bottle: Hazy, yellow-orange with a thin, off-white head. Candy-banana...(like a chewing gum) scent. Taste is soft, overripe banana, again, pretty artificial.....wheat malt, vanilla. Weak...diluted feeling.

Bottle - Jolly rancher green apple. Clearish light gold with a decent white head. Sweet green apple candy. Not beer but not gross.
