Description
Shock Top is a traditional Belgian-Style wheat ale. It was originally created in 2006 as a seasonal brew under the name Spring Heat Spiced Wheat. After collecting gold in ’06 and bronze in ’07 in the Belgian White category at the North American Beer Awards, we decided to brew year-round and switch the name to Shock Top. We couldn’t be happier with our decision. And the best decision you can make is to try some Shock Top for yourself.

Bottle from Foods Plus, Plaistow, NH. Aroma is pumpkin-y but without a lot of nutmeg/cinnamon/clove spiciness. Appearance is cloudy orange with minimal white head and fair retention with minimal lacing. Taste is medium sweet and not complex. Palate is medium bodied with lively carbonation at the tip of the tongue. Finish is pretty abrupt. Overall, more memorable pumpkin beers if you are searching for one in the fall. Not objectionable in any way but nothing to particularly recommend it.

On tap at Portland Pie. Hazy orange amber color with a smallish off white head. Spicy earthy with hints of orange peel. Drinkable I guess, but not something I would reach for often.

A cloudy dark yellow colour, good head of foam.
I get the smell of wheat and bananas though their aromas are anything but assertive.
The taste is a tad better. The banana takes on an accompaniment of bread which almost brings banana bread to mind.
Good mouthfeel.
Not a horrible experience drinking this but having it again is doubtful. --- Beer merged from original tick of Spiced Banana Wheat on 08 Apr 2015 at 13:18 - Score: 5. Original review text: In the name of science.

Bottle: Poured a golden color with white head. Aroma is bourbon. Taste is a messy bourbon and sweet caramel malt. Just doesn’t work for me.
