About
Shock Top is a traditional Belgian-Style wheat ale. It was originally created in 2006 as a seasonal brew under the name Spring Heat Spiced Wheat. After collecting gold in ’06 and bronze in ’07 in the Belgian White category at the North American Beer Awards, we decided to brew year-round and switch the name to Shock Top. We couldn’t be happier with our decision. And the best decision you can make is to try some Shock Top for yourself.

Kind of a kick in the butt. Stuff doesn’t work here. Cloudy orange with ok head and lacing. Whatever the elements are, it’s mixed with a lot of chemicals. On tap at DC Summerfest.

Draft @ a local chain restaurant. This is part of the reason I hate corporate chain eating establishments, they never anything respectable on draft. Aroma of light citrus orange and dusty wheat.
Flavor has a subdued floral hoppiness. Hints of grass with weak citrus notes. Main body is grain and light in body with a slightly dry texture. Well, this is a better offering than Twisted Pretzel I had right before this, not saying much but I was able to finish the whole pint. It is about what I expected it to be and after all it is AB In-Bev, yep!

Draft and did NOT ask for the caramel syrup and salt rim around the glass. The color was a deeper red with amber hues. Not much in the way of head retention. The aroma is a toasted bread and pretzels. I almost had some hope for this based on the smell, silly me.
Flavor is toasted malt with hints of caramel. Not much else. Thin watery body with a burnt toasted finish. I was having dinner at a chain restaurant and ordered this foolishly. I only drank half of it because all I could get was watered down caramel. Really don’t waste your money, not pleasant.

This white poured a cloudy amber colour with next to no head. Scents include raspberries, cheap soap and jam. First swig was quite sweet with flavours of raspberry jam and perfume. Finish is ultra sweet. Almost too sickly.

Pours hazy deep golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, wheat, caramel, sugar, honey and artificial vanilla. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.
