About
Shock Top is a traditional Belgian-Style wheat ale. It was originally created in 2006 as a seasonal brew under the name Spring Heat Spiced Wheat. After collecting gold in ’06 and bronze in ’07 in the Belgian White category at the North American Beer Awards, we decided to brew year-round and switch the name to Shock Top. We couldn’t be happier with our decision. And the best decision you can make is to try some Shock Top for yourself.

Sampled from bottle at Metro Liquor in Kelowna, pours a cloudy red. Nose and flavour is pretty sweet, with raspberries abound on top of a wheat base. Refreshing and drinkable, but really wimpy and a little fake. Meh.

Found some old notes on this. Oh boy, here we go.
I poured this into a pint glass.
The appearance was a cloudy muddy brown colored body that leaves a nice two finger white foamy head that lasts for a good two minutes before slowly dieing. Lacing shows after the head concaves into the body, nice and spider-webs. The body is too dark for any carbonation to be seen rising.
The smell, well, here is where we take a wrong turn. It starts out ok with the chocolate and wheat combined decently up front, but something didn’t smell right as it warmed.
The taste well, it was basically the same and comes out extremely bland (anyone remember the old Wendy’s commercial \"where’s the beef?\", ok right here I’d like to say \"where’s the flavor?\"). In other words, whatever happened in the smell didn’t happen in the taste ... ???
On the palate, it was light and super watery with nothing harsh on the tongue.
Overall, ok, it says on the side of the bottle, there’s chili and spice, and once again, I’ll use that old Wendy’s line, \"where’s the [chili and spice]?\" So if this is supposed to be so complex with other flavors, where are they? In retrospect, I will say fitting name as this will be the \"end of the world\" for this beer. Cue Dierks Bentley - \"what was I thinking?\"

Been looking for this one for a while (as it has been out a long time), every time I go to the States and finally found it in a mixed pack, right here at home. Pours a cloudy yellow colour with a white head, average stay and minimal lace. Lemonade smell and what do you know, in the taste as well. The flavours are sweet, not super strong, but enough to be hard to finish one bottle. Watery sourness and not much aftertaste. I don’t mind the original orange one and raspberry in this pack, but not so much this one

Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a dark brown with a ruby hue and a half finger of quickly disappearing off-white head. Aroma of Hershey’s chocolate. Taste is medium sweet. Hershey’s chocolate and sugar water, kinda gross actually.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours a hazy orange with medium off-white head. Spicy aroma with notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. Flavor matches aroma. Better than I thought it would be.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a weizen. Pours bright golden with half inch white head. Aroma is light honey, medium body, medium/well carbonated, and little big bubble lacing. Taste is cheap bourbon, caramel malt, and sweet artificial honey. Flavors don’t meld well.

Bottle: Nearly clear, golden amber with a frothy, off-white head. Aroma is vanilla, honey, wheat. Taste is strong , raw vanilla...honey... Didn’t really get any bourbon in the taste....maybe a little wood... Very sweet...not too bad if you find yourself in the mood for some beer candy.

Bottle. A- Honey, vanilla, caramel. A- Off Orange color, slightly hazy liquid, off white head. T- Sweet, honey, caramel, wheat. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, sweet finish. O- Tasted like a honey candy. Sweet and lots of honey! The bourbon is not noticeable but the honey is great. I have a soft spot for Shock Top and this doesn’t disappoint. Overall, a sweet and smooth beer that had awesome honey notes and is great year around.

Bottle: Pale golden yellow with a dab of sandy head. Nose is sweet, honey and vanilla. Sweet flavor is actually fairly good… light in the bourbon (very light), honey, vanilla, and chamomile. Sure it has some artificial characteristics, but it really isn’t too bad; I expected a drain pour, so kudos AB. Odd little sawdust smell at the end.
