Bret, our president and head brewer, fell in love with beer and the craft of brewing at the appropriate age of 21. After graduating from the University of Colorado with a degree in economics, he pursued a sensible job in the finance world. It didn’t take long for him to realize that being at a desk was not for him and he wanted to become a professional brewer. That passion led him and his family to California where he went back to school to earn a Professional Brewing Certificate at University of San Diego. He swore he would never go back to school, but beer will make you do some crazy things. From there, Bret worked as a professional brewer for several years before taking the leap to open his own brewery in Spokane.
Lumberbeard Brewing was founded in 2018 and we are so excited to have you along for this crazy journey. We are committed to making excellent beers and desire to create a community where everyone feels welcome, cared for, and can find a beer they love!

Can thanks to Justin. Pours a clear amber hue with a medium white head. A big malty nose, light barrel. Rich, sweet, big hot barrel, toasted malts, caramel. Really deep toffee. Damn good.

473mL can. Pours brown with minimal head. Aroma has bourbon, macademia syrup, some vanilla. Flavour has syrup, macademia nuts, bourbon. Pretty enjoyable, but overly syrupy and sweet. Not bad per se, but falls a bit short.

16 oz. can, pours a deep dark burgundy, small beige head. Aroma has plenty of macadamia nuts, light vanilla, and huge bourbon barrels. Flavour has lots of macadamia syrupy -- like if you went to Starbucks and asked for a pump of macadamia syrup -- along with vanilla and bourbon. The nuts don't across legitimately enough -- a bit too syrupy. It's clearly a well-made, high-quality beer, but the nut character isn't fully convincing. It's good, but lacking.

1 pint can. Pours a reddish brown with little head. Aromas of bourbon, dry caramel, and toasted malts. Flavors follow same with additional vanilla that nicely balances the bourbon and malts. Warm finish. Very good overall.

Draft pour pint at Tapped, Mill Creek. Lighter orange juice haze. Thin foam. I think I was in the mood for a Lumberbeard brew more so than i was for a hazy. Creamy and slick to start, with plenty of hop burn to follow. Aroma is very nice, with a cool melon that is inviting. Similar melon is present throughout thr flavor as well, but buried in hop burn. Overall, it's not bad. Not dissing the brewer, I'm dissing the style. Can't blame anyone but myself though. I chose to order it.

On tap. Pours a dark brown with light head. Aromas of bourbon, brown sugar, caramel and toasted malts. Flavors follow same with some grass, dry dark fruit and rougher malts. Old style Barley Wine. Some alcohol, but not showing 16%. Probably needs some aging.

Draft pour to a tulip at Tapped. Glowing orange juice haze. Thin cream head. Slick and juicy first sip. Honestly I'm in disbelief that this is imperial. And on top of that, it's easily imperial. Tom's of melon and citrus aroma. Flavor matches closely. Has a sweet side to this fruity double hazy. Nothing intense about it though. It seems like extensive dry hopping has put a unique touch on this one. Too easy drinking for my usual IPA taste, but that seems like such an odd thing to complain about. Solid.

Gold, white head. Nose of pine with tea notes. Similar palate, tea and tons of pine, woody notes. Somewhat dank. Quality brew, but I am not a fan

473mL can. Pours very murky ruddy brown with beige head. Aroma is thick, bourbon, brown sugar, roasted nuts. Flavour has tons of bourbon barrels, brown sugar, nuts. Reasonable complexity and quite enjoyable.

Amber-brown, a bit of haze. No head. There's some alcohol, light caramel. On the palate, it's a bit thin, it's got a nice bourbon note, but probably not enough residual sugar in the base to bring everything together.
