Description
The Lumberbeard Brewing story isn’t a complicated one. It is much like the way we like our beers: simple, straightforward, yet full of creative adventure.
Bret, our president and head brewer, fell in love with beer and the craft of brewing at the appropriate age of 21. After graduating from the University of Colorado with a degree in economics, he pursued a sensible job in the finance world. It didn’t take long for him to realize that being at a desk was not for him and he wanted to become a professional brewer. That passion led him and his family to California where he went back to school to earn a Professional Brewing Certificate at University of San Diego. He swore he would never go back to school, but beer will make you do some crazy things. From there, Bret worked as a professional brewer for several years before taking the leap to open his own brewery in Spokane.
Lumberbeard Brewing was founded in 2018 and we are so excited to have you along for this crazy journey. We are committed to making excellent beers and desire to create a community where everyone feels welcome, cared for, and can find a beer they love!

16 oz can. Aroma is dank sticky green bud, citrusy, silicon, blueberries. Pours lightly hazy golden with a two finger soapy white head with great retention. Taste has nearly zero bitterness and finishes dry. Flavors like the aroma.

Poured from 473mL can (pkg Jan 2026). Dark brown with small beige head. Soft lingering bourbon with dark sugars and dark fruits, dangerously easy drinking and balanced.

16 oz. can, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is rich, with big bourbon barrels, brown sugar, toffee, and toasted caramel. Flavour is super rich, big muscular bourbon barrels, brown sugar, toffee, and even some hoppy bitterness in there. Really great malt base, fantastic bourbon character. This is fantastic.

Dark amber. No head. This has a nice rich bourbon character on the nose. Solid bourbon, rich malty body, some raisin / date notes. Toffee, light fruitiness, lots of toffee and light fruitiness.

Brown. Hazy, thin head. Lots of vanilla on the nose, some sticky toffee sort of stuff. On the palate, those things in abundance. A lot of vanilla. It’s got some tartness, a raisiny fruitiness.

16 oz can. Aroma is citrus rind, biscuity. Pours hazy golden with a one+ finger off-white head with excellent retention. Taste has a light pithy bitterness with vague hop flavors. Tropical notes are nil at first but slowly reveal themselves.

16 oz can. Aroma is dank, cooked broccoli, freshly chopped wood, onion. Pours lightly hazy golden with a thick off-white head with excellent retention. Taste is moderately bitter with dank onion-tinged flavors. Not the best Lumberbeard.

16 oz. can, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma has rich bourbon barrels, dark sugar, brown sugar, and dark fruits. Flavour is on the sweeter side, with big bourbon barrels, big dark sugars, brown sugar, and a touch of dark fruits. Nice barrel character, but the malts are less complex than I’d hope for; the sweetness could also be dialed back a bit. Overall, very nice massive BA barleywine.

On tap at Elizabeth Station. Pours clear dark amber with a beige head. Big, smokey bourbon barrels on the nose; chewy toffee, burnt sugars, bread crusts. Flavour has a wave of rich bourbon and dark sugars up front, loads of toffee and dried fruits in there as well. Plenty boozy. Fantastic.
