Description
The term “YaYa” was given to our late sister, Lara. As children, co-founder, Jason, could not pronounce Lara’s name properly (lah-rah). Thus, the nickname YaYa was born. It stuck with her throughout her life.

Lara was an avid proponent of helping people, kindness, academia, and most importantly, beer. So when Lara passed away in 2014, her brothers knew what had to be done.

Co-founder and Brewmaster, Chris, had been involved in the home-brewing scene since the early-2000s and knew it was time to take the step into the realm of professional brewing. The decision was made on a trip near Nashville, Tennessee. We are a family-owned brewery with a focus on community, team, education, and beer.

We strive to create beers that would make our sister proud; brewed with integrity, character, and pride. In true Lara form, we also intend to lend a hand to the community in which we live. As such, a percentage of all tasting room sales of our flagship beer, Angel IPA, will be donated to local charities.

On tap at Manito. Pours hazy orange golden with a one finger white head with decent retention. Aroma is like beery orange juice. Taste has light bitterness. Kind of thin and watery. A little juicy. Not as impressive as the aroma.

Can from Brewer’s Haven, December 2021. Dark brown color with a frothy tan head. Big coffee aroma, roast and cocoa. A good coffee flavor, moderate bitterness and lightly sweet. Some cocoa, but not getting the vanilla. It’s a coffee drinker’s porter for sure.

Bottle from Tavour. Aroma is dominant peppercorn and moderate cacoa. Pours a deep brown with tan head. Foam flowed out of the bottle on opening Flavor is chocolate with the cinnamon showing. Overt lactose. Solid chewy yeast in the back support. A bit spritzy that seems to come from the lactose. A really nice and interesting beer.

Bottle from Tavour. Pours dark brown/black with a huge foamy white head. Not a Guinness pour, just a huge one. Aroma is cinnamon over chocolate. Med body; very smooth. Flavor is strongly cinnamon, with chocolate, toasted malt (mildly toasted) and some non-musty wood notes. Decent flavors. Not overdone. Some brown sugar comes out as the cinnamon dies down.

500ml bottle from Tavour. Dark brown pour, minimal head. Cinnamon is first in the aroma, sweet, brown sugar. Cinnamon leads the taste as well, more brown sugar, light roast malts, a warm cinnamon roll comes to mind. Barrel aging here seems to smooth out the malts. Love the flavors here, mellow, subtle. Really nicely done.

Can from Tavour. Pours clear brown with a dark, transient beige head. Aroma of coffee. Near med body. Flavor is decent, tho not over the top, coffee. Dryish. Maybe a hint of vanilla - something more than coffee. It's a struggle to find chocolate. Good, but not exciting.
