The first Imperial IPA I was able to taste at the Tall City Invitational in Midland, TX last weekend. The nose was strong with pine and hops. Taste was better, sort of a hop bomb. Pine cone, grain, plenty of hops, citrus and a small sweetness. Nice.

Undated can drunk 6/20/26.
Pine and grapefruit with a gentle bourbon spice. A bit of chocolate and roast, no big malt, seemingly very dry. But no booze. Hint of soft, juicy greenery.
Big, big whiskey, oak, alcohol. Had a lot of Willett and that's not Willett, that's just booze. Dry, too much so, with piney hops and alcohol lingering. Bitter and too thin. This needs so much more malt to balance the IBU, alcohol and whatever this burning tannin is.

Can from Tavour. Pours dark brn/blk with a moderate tan head. Aroma of pecans and roasty malt with a chocolate note. Arguably med body. Malty but not excessively sweet. Somewhat bitter from roasty malt and nuts. Pecan and vanilla stand out. With an almost hidden note of chocolate.

Pour is a cloudy amber with a large white head. Aroma is toasted bread with some sweet marmalade. Flavor is a ok toasted bread and grain. Finish is not as sweet as I thought it was going to be. This was a fairly average but fine Oktoberfest.

Aromas are bread, crackers, dry grain, malt and the barest hint of hops. Flavors are similar to nose. More sweet than bitter with okay carbonation. A little crisper would have been better for me.

12oz can from Tavour. Copper colored pour, head disappears quickly. Malty, tannic aroma, metallic notes. Taste is malty and tannic, tobacco, dry. The metallic notes in the aroma fade away, but over all this is just average.
