12 oz. bottle. Light hoppy nose - grassy hop. Pale gold color with a decent white head. Thin to moderate body. Slightly fizzy, but gentle, carbonation. Starts lightly sweet with something like floral or grassy hop. The finish is dryish, the balance of bitter is slightly lacking. Decent aftertaste. Better than very many southern pale lagers.

Bottle - surprise, surprise - owned by Heineken. Sour corn/barley malt aroma. Pale yellow with small head. Slightly sour, musty corn malt flavor with a hint of hops in the finish. Gets bonus points for not being an blatant Corona knockoff. Really a decent beer - love to have one of these on a Costa Rican beach.

Simple but not unpleasant corn aroma. Clean and refreshing beer, with a light body of corn and malt. Better than most of its style, and no perceivable flaws.

Said it was 5.1 percent alcohol on the liter bottle that was brough back by my friend who was in Costa Rica for reasons unknown. The beer is quite clear. But it tastes like a beer, which is a plus in the world of the pale lager. Has a little sweet taste to it. Not too watery, another good thing. Personally, I think this was better than Imperial... not the worst for a pale lager.

My friend brought back a liter of this and a liter of Pilsen from Costa RIca for me and yesterday, finding nothing better to do, I indulged in the taste or Costa Rican pale lager. The beer pours clear, completely with minimal head. The taste is strange because there is an element of alcohol in a 4.6 percent beer which there definately should not be. Overall, this is a swillable kind of a beer and I would swill it again if the chance came about.

A very light yellow beer with a white head. The aroma is an unpleasant grassy one with some metal notes - and so is the flavor, leading to a dry metallic end. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a pale pilsener golden with a creamy, white head. Light aroma of corn. Medium body, notes of brewing cereal and a light tartness. Tiny wee bitterness in the finish. A very typical New World Pale Lager. 210606

2004 bottle provided by and shared with bucknaked, 4/30/2005. Pale yellow-gold color, more paly yellow than gold. Foamy white head is very rapidly dissipating. Little bit of lacing. Aroma of light veggies mixed with hints of herbal character and dusty paper. Bit of vanilla as well. Flavor is lightly salty? with notes of wet cardboard, very light, dry cereal grains, peppery skunked hops. Ends on a salty mineral water sort of note, not terribly offensive. Light body, quite watery, moderate to high carbonation for the style.

Pour is a sickly looking yellow with a fizzy head. Not much aroma or flavor. Just your typical macro lager. Not real good but i must admit it is quite refreshing when its 100+ in the shade. Costa Rica as a country has so much more to offer than its beer.
