Canned. Clear golden, brief airy head. Fruity aroma with some grass, metal and butter. Sweet and sugary with notes of boiled vegetables, dense mouthfeel. Short salty finish. Why is this listed as a pilsener?

Can. It pours clear, pale golden, with a decent, dense, cream-white head. Bready and slightly fruity on the nose, and there’s even a vague caramel scent. Bready and slightly fruity flavor and finish. Thin to medium body. The beer is too bready I think, and needs more hops and balance. (070210)

Bottle, 4.9%. Weak citric aroma. Clear pale golden colour. Stable white head. Quite dry flavour with distinct, almost rough, bitterness.

First rating(Draught) Clear golden color, big white creamy lasting head. Typical acidic malty nose for a German pils. Malty and bitter taste. Easy drinking and enjoyable, thugh perhaps not very special.6/3/6/3/11=2.9Rerate(50 cl can fromn Systembolaget)On August 30, 2008Clear pale yellow color, white head. Malty scent and taste. Medium mouthfeel and bitterness. Not that interesting.5/3/5/3/10=2.6

(bottle) Clear, pale golden colour with a medium-sized foamy white head. Grassy, slightly herbal hoppy nose with a slightly sweet malty background. Moderately bitter flavour, light bodied with a well-carbonated but watery mouthfeel. Slim and soft malty base, light herbal notes; dryish, slightly bitter finish. Not the worst of the style.

Boy, this label thing on these imports drives me crazy. First I thought this was the 3.5, then I looked at the label fine print to see no alky rating what so ever. Then I cruised the website to find a dortmunder actien-brauerei label that matched up to my bottle. Sometimes there is no picture and then it is really a guessing game! In the fine print it says it is original dortmunder premium lager, the beer of world fame. So I check to see which of these beers is the most popular, that is how I located it. Oh, now I see where the DAB comes from! I just finished a bitberger, so this is a good time to compare. Anyway, this is a lager that falls under the style of classic german pilsner because I can see the label is the correct one in the avatar. Does anybody remember the Dab girls of 2 decades ago? She was the one that made me take my first taste of dab. She kind of reminds me of the Norton girl of the 70s. This is a 12 oz green bottle. Pop the lid for an aroma of slight skunk cabbage with a strong background of yeast. Pours light brown yellow with a whitish head that hangs for a few minutes. Again, these german classics have a bitterness to them that may attract pale ale fans. Similar to bitburger and stout pils. All three of these beers in this style taste the same to me, and I guess they should. This would make them a credit to the style. Who says lagers are not as creative as the ales? I am surprised to see this beer does not rate as high as bitburger, because it has about the same amount of mischievousness. The color of this lager hides the ungentle manlike behavior of the beer. Finish does have a slight bitter linger that hangs loose for a few minutes.

Test vom 26.11.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 8,5,5,5,11,5 - 5,60

Bottle. Pours golden with large white head. Head dissipates rather quickly. Nice, crisp, clean pilsener taste. Bit of a bitter finish that made it clean and crisp at the end as well. Very refreshing beer.

Can: Oh, I’ve had a lot of these when I was younger:-) Pale yellow with little white head. Malty sweet aroma with a little portion of hops. Grass and hay feel. Short finish. Drinkable but very ordinary!
