On tap at The Brewhouse, San Juan Capistrano on 15th March 2019 (part of a Flight). Mahogany body, wispy beige head. Sweet malty brew, a typical Doppelbock in all aspects; they never seem to have the body depth their alcohol content should merit.

Can from Trader Joe's in Davis, CA. Pours brassy gold with a large foamy/creamy white head. Aroma is bready with some grassy hop. Near med body. Flavor is bready with spicy hop - quite Noble - but I wondering about the grass in the aroma. Crisp and clean. Good drink.

Draft pour enjoyed at Hamiltons, San Diego. Listed as a Black Lager, so still some info to clear up here. First taste, clearly a black lager. Thicker body. Good roast. Bold toasty malt, cool and clean finish. A touch of a doughy malt afterthought. Unique brew. Enjoyed this.

Pour is a dark brown with some red highlights and a large white head. Aroma is uber toasty bread with some baked biscuit. Flavor is again a real decent toasted grain with plenty of dry breadyness. No sweet malt to be found here. This was flavorful and pretty rich for a lager. The can is also pretty cool looking.

16 oz can poured, thanks to Keven. A dark, but clean copper brown pour. Moderate to heavy smoked aroma. A meat reminder, as the can sort of suggests. A rich malt that is buried by a campfire smoke. Toasty. Cool late linger. Love to sip on this beer. Full of interesting flavors. Fun try

Bomber. Pours a reddish color with a small white head. A huge banana spicy nose. The flavor is berries, banana, toffee. Quite nice.

On tap at Beercraft in Novato. It pours a clear pale yellow color with a white head. The aroma is grainy with light notes of lemony hops. The flavor is lightly grainy with hints of earthy noble hop bitterness. Light lemon. Nice notes of hay and fresh cracked grains. Super clean on the palate. Mostly a subtle, earthy hop character. A really nice Helles.

Bottle. California brewery #196. Pours hazy rich hazel, medium tan head that dissipates fairly quickly leaving decent lacing. Aroma is malty, roast, a bit nutty, dark breads and toffee. Flavor is medium sweet, very light bitter, quite malty and pleasant. I must be in a malty mood today, cause this hits the spot. Medium body, minimal acidity.

Sample at Tony’s Darts Away. Brownish-amber color with a thin light beige head that recedes quickly to a wispy film. Spotty lacing. Roasted malt, hops and fruit in the nose. Medium body with flavors of roast malt, caramel and earthy hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Above average overall.
