650mL bottle, pours a vibrant reddish orange with a small head. Aroma of sour cherries and yeast. Flavour of sour cherries, yeast, citrus, tartness and some acidity. Quite nice.

2009 bottle. Hazy amber-brown. The aroma is, well, chewy barley wine. Sweet malty character - a mix of caramel and brown sugar. Very slight fruitiness (lychee) and the strength shows up late. Rich finish bordering on sticky. Good. But I’m still waiting on that magic bottle. Score is for this fresh bottle only.
2008 bottle, aged a little over a year. Caramel amber. Earthy aroma is kind of oxidized with some fruit character and lots of alcohol. Rich bitterness, but gets sweet. Oxidized. Simply barley wine and it’s not aging well at all. I had a second taste from a different bottle with the same result. Argh.

Golden-amber with a thin head. Somewhat flowery with earthy, caramelly character. Smooth malty character, light caramel and toast with some floral notes. Not altbier at all, no matter what they say.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a hazy orange with a small white head. Nose brings out lots of oranges, resinous hops and British caramel malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with loads of resinous hops, caramel malt, British bready malt and oranges. Not an authentic ESB, but more like an IPA. Resinous and orangey on the finish, with ample sweetness. Very nice.

Golden-amber. Bright woodsy hop aroma with earthy, caramelly malt. Bright, woody, earthy palate with a hint of citrus. Complex, nice yeastiness. Has new world character with an old world sense of balance. Interesting.

2024: Can. Amber and clear. Medium head. Nice woody, lemony aroma with some toasty malt. On the palate, more of that old school chewy, toasty malt. More crystal malt than I've had in an IPA in a while, but it's well-extracted. Fairly bitter. Chewy, again with a bright woody sort of hop note. Well-constructed brew. Old school west coast IPA. 2017: Bottle. Amber, has a nice bright centennial - toasty. Light caramel on the palate, and toasty, woody centennial character. Certainly this is good - a good look at BC centennials. It's just not to the level of the hype. 2010: Bright amber. Thick head. Woody, herbal aroma maybe a bit oxidized at this point, with lots of earthy caramel notes. Creamy, chocolatey, toasty malts with lots of earthy bitter hops. Good beer - already a shade past its prime but worth looking for next fall. 7-4-7-4-15 = 3.7

Orangey-amber. Thin head. The aroma is malt-accented and lightly spicy with caramels and white pepper. Caramel, earthy, light pepper and coriander on the tongue. Well-balanced. A subtle beer - not saison but tasty anyway.
