Purchased at Armanetti’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed after a long Tuesday at work and the first workout I’ve done in over a month. Time to put those calories back on! Appearance is a really vibrant ruby orange with a rich off-white head, tiny carbonation bubbles rising to the top, looks fantastic. Aroma of equal parts bready malt and sweet pumpkin, this may sound odd but this combination makes it smell like I just walked past a Burger King. That is why this gets a perfect 10 for aroma. Other brewers reading this - let it be known that if you make your beer smell like Burger King, people will like it a lot. Taste is very very good, wow, this is a great pumpkin ale! Flavors of pumpkin pie, cinnamon, brown sugar, and it becomes balanced in the end with a crispness and very slight bitterness that reminds you you’re not drinking pumpkin pie mash. Hat’s off to these guys, first brew I’ve had from this small northern Chicago brewery, and it’s a great one! It’s just one slight tick below Southern Tier’s Pumking.

12oz can. Hazy orange-tan. Thin, steady white head. Orange zest, spices, lemon in the aroma. Quite spice forward, almost approaches Saison in a lot of respects. Somewhat watery, approaching medium bodied. Spices and hops add a bitterness that pretty much caries the beer. Simple, thin, somewhat grainy malt tones underneath. Doesn’t really nail the style, but an OK summer beer.

12oz can. Opaque brown black with a rusty beige head. Sweet, luscious chocolate tones in the aroma. Kind of an odd, watery mouthfeel. Chalky coffee finish. Seems like it would go over well on nitro. The soapy cocoa bitterness is not entirely pleasant, probably could benefit from a change in the hops/hopping. Dry, not so memorable, but still drinkable.

From Notes. 12oz can from Old Chicago poured into a shaker. Appearance is a cloudy rust orange with a bright white head. Aroma is strongly of floral hops. Taste is medium bitter. Light bodied with a thin texture, it has a long bitter finish. Overall, this beer is quite good. Something I will definitely try to but and drink again.

Can. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty coffee chocolate aroma. Roasted malty chocoalte and coffee flavor. Has a roasted malty chocolate finish.

My can is black with a name of Wild Onion Brewing Jack Stout. Also, it says 6% not 6.5% so I’m not sure if this is the right place for my rating. Anyway, out of the can its pour is quite interesting. Black, with a thin tan head that fades rapidly. Smell is that of some sterile impy stouts I’ve had so it is a little alarming. However, the first taste sooths all those alrms, certainly this is a smooth black stout that comes across rather creamy and friendly. Barely any co2 but for what it does have, its enjoyable and not quite flat. Taste is smooth and easy and it almost has a tart background which makes it very interesting. Very little bitterness in this brew. Yes, rather enjoyable overall expereince, I would certainly buy this again. Paid $3 for this at the house of 1000 beers. Good example of a dark beer. I should have bought a six pack of this.

12 oz can. Pours a big pile of foam, which flattens out quickly. Gold color that’s been filtered. Smells a little hoppy with a slight tang of wheat and sour. I can’t pull much of the advertised flavor additions here, but there is a nice wheat spiciness. Somewhat dry compared to my idea of a wit. Some personality at work to raise it just above the level of another light summer brew.

Pour is a black with a small tan head. Aroma is a nice roast and coffe with some chocolate. Flavor is again some roasted malt with a strange meatyness. Finish is watery but leaves a nice smokyness on the tounge. Its different, I’ll give it that.

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is corriander and wheat. Flavor is more of the same a nice corriander with some wheat and a decent clove at the end. Pretty good wit out of a can.

Pour is a orange with a large white head. Aroma is a nice, lush citrus hop. Flavor does not live up to the aroma. Hops are there but way weak. There is a more matly backbone in the flavor that does give the beer a nice earhtyness. This was ok and worthy of a pick up.
