500ml bottle delivered from the Ale Wagon, Leicester and drunk at home. The colour is dark gold, clear with a healthy white head. Aroma of hay, some citrus oil, resinous notes, a little bit of ammonia. There's an astringent bitterness to the taste, with an overload of back-of-the-tongue bettering hops. Antiseptic notes in the aftertaste. Can't really get into this one.

500ml bottle as part of a delivery from the Ale Wagon and drunk at home. Mid- to dark brown, slightly translucent with a massive amount of loose beige head. Light aroma, some biscuity malts, some dusty chocolate. Bittersweet taste with a medicinal bitterness in the finish. More chocolate, blackberry and plum in the aftertaste. Extremely heavy carbonation, almost makes it hard to drink. Not a lot to it but decent enough.

500ml bottle. As part of a delivery from the Ale Wagon and drunk at home. Tawny brown, clear with a big beige head and a lot of lacing. Smells of biscuity malt, dried grass, caramel. Tastes really intense in comparison to the mellow aroma. Its bitter, astringent and sharp. Finishes with a tannic bitter/sour, with TCP and fruit caramel in the aftertaste. It's not my sort of thing but others may like it.

500ml bottle delivered from the Ale Wagon and drunk at home. Brownish gold and clear with a large foamy beige head. Bready yeast in the aroma combining with a sulphurous medicine character. Fresh, clean taste, well balanced with more sulphur close to the finish. A decent amount of carbonation. Normally these aren't my kind of beers but this is fairly refreshing if a bit ordinary.

500ml bottle delivered from the Ale Wagon and drunk at home.brownish gold, lightly hazy with a fair bit of yeast sediment. The aroma is muted, slightly floral with notes of toffee. Sweet taste with citrus candy, light cooking spice. There's a dogged bitterness in the long finish. Heavy carbonation. A fairly basic IPA but very pleasant and moreish.

2 litres of cask delivered from the Ale Wagon, Leicester. That's almost 2 pints for each of us, hope we like it. Golden brown, clear and flat. Caramel, woody notes, tangerine in the aroma. Bittersweet taste, a big woody sourness mid-sip leading to an astringent finish. Watery body. As traditional a beer as you're likely to find but very nicely executed.

Keg at the Ale Wagon's 20th Birthday Beer Festival, Leicester. Ruddy brown, clear and very flat. Homemade caramel aroma with medicinal hop conyrast in the aroma. There's a sweet pulled taffy taste alonside the bitter hop note. Molasses and mecurochrome exist side by side in the aftertaste. There's a lot going on here, not all of it makes sense but I can dig that.

Keg at the Ale Wagon's 20th Birthday Beer Festival, Leicester. Golden and clear with ring of white head. Sweet aroma with light banana chip, brioche and orange peel notes. Sweet taste with a light souring toward the finish. Medium to heavy carbonation. Very nice.

Gravity cask at the Ale Wagon's 20th Birthday Beer Festival, Leicester. Dark gold, flat and clear. Light sulphurous aroma with light grassy notes. Beautiful bittersweet taste, resplendent with Mount Hood hops. Finish and aftertaste tends toward the bitter. Oily body. Nice.

Gravity cask at the Ale Wagon's 20th Birthday Beer Festival, Leicester. Light to mid reddish brown, clear with almost no head. Very little aroma, a bit of nondescript malty offerings alongside a sharp metallic character. Taste is much better: bittersweet with vanilla, tobacco, hazelnut carrying to the finish. Astringent hops are prominent in the aftertaste. A mixed bag.
