Description
De Abdij van Leffe, opgericht in 1152, was een norbertijnenabdij waar kanunniken in een gemeenschap samenleefden met bijzondere aandacht voor opvang en gastvrijheid. In 1240 besloten de kanunniken een brouwerij te bouwen om een gezonde en versterkende drank te bereiden. Door de Franse Revolutie werd abdij gesloten. Pas in 1929 werd de abdij heropgericht. In 1952 besloten abt Nys en Albert Lootvoet de brouwtraditie en de goedbewaarde receptuur van Leffe te hervatten. In 1954 al werd Brouwerij Artois hoofdaandeelhouder van Brouwerij Lootvoet. De productie werd in 1977 overgeheveld naar Brouwerij Grade in Mont-Saint-Guibert, tot de sluiting in 1996. Tegenwoordig wordt Leffe gebrouwen bij de brouwerij van Stella Artois in Leuven.

De abdij van Leffe is middels de vennootschap Brasserie de l'Abbaye de Leffe slechts houder van het intellectueel eigendom op de naam Leffe.

Appearance: Light orange golden, clear. Small, fizzy white head. Aroma: Pale malt, some light caramel. Bit of medium fruits and yeast. Taste: Medium fruit, pale malt. Some Belgian yeast, some grains. Pretty good N/A though. Bought: Coop (Matran), 330 ml can, CHF 2.60 Info: 16/11-2024, BB: 17/4-2025

Color dorado limpio, espuma blanca consistente y bien retenida. Aroma a levadura, caramelo, fruta muy madura o incluso en compota, cierto recuerdo a repostería, especias. En boca es de cuerpo medio, dulce de entrada, amargor leve al final del trago, notas de levadura, galleta, fruta de hueso muy madura, mermelada, algo de hierba y especias. Fácil de beber y disfrutar.
