I like the reddish-brown colour but the way it fizzed up and went flat is not very encouraging. The aroma is lightly chocolatey, but with fruity elements. Chewy, rich chocolate, nut, brown sugar character but with nail polish phenols in the background. Hrm.

Hazy amber. Thin head. Slightly herbal, mostly English hop aroma with vaguely bready malts. Soft, light earthy malts. Sort of a US interpretation of English ale. Ok, but generally uninspiring.

Straw colour, dull and lifeless. The aroma is cidery with a slight grainy character. Light straw palate. Interesting - I suppose that’s saffron notes I’m picking up...I guess. An unusual, light-tasting beer.

Bottle, from the gift shop. Dark brown. The aroma has a fresh raspberry note. Tart palate with lots of chocolate character. In a fruit beer, such tartness makes sense - this is a fun brew. Probably too much tartness for overall balance, but one of the tastier Weyermanns.

bottle from Frankenland. Hazy, deep golden colour, mid-sized white head. Shy malty base, slightly hoppy, dry and dusty palate. Very light, having in mind the strength of 5.9%. Still full of flavour and very enjoyable.

bottle from Frankenland. Hazy amber-golden colour, mid-sized head. Malty, slightly dusty with cellar notes. Spicy, resiny hops with hints of dust and cobweb (I haven’t actually tasted cobwebs because I don’t like spiders a lot, in fact I hate them, but I suppose that’s what it is). Shy hints of caramel.
