The Hönig brewery in Tiefenellern has an old tradition. The brewery and the inn "Zur Post" have been family-owned since 1778. The brewing right has existed since 1478 and can be documented.

Bottle at bottle share Bad Staffelstein. Quite a fruity heller bock. Not too sweet. Not overly bitter. Quite easy drinking. White stone fruit. Clean malt clean yeast. Touch of residual sugar. Good.

Brilliant clear medium to deep amber colour, small frothy off-white head, mostly diminishing, minimal lacing. Smoked aroma, roasted malts, caramel, sausage, bacon, burned wood. Smooth taste medium sweet and light bitter, malty, caramel, smoky undertones. Sweetbitter aftertaste, malty caramel and light spicy notes, medium body, watery to oily texture, soft carbonation. Light and smooth rauchbier, easy to drink.

Bottle from Aldi drunk in a park in Bamberg. Clear bright gold colour lasting white head. An ok pils i guess. A little empty in the malt. Hops are biting enough on the finish to say this is a pils. Biting nettle and floral hop. Yes fairly drinkable to be honest the hoppy finish grew on me.

Bottle from Rewe Bamberg. Drunk watching a goose on the river. Pale gold clear colour lasting white head. Massive diacetyl nose. some lemon hop on the finish. but the rest is a diacetyl bomb. 4.5 re rate at Zapfahn. On draught Hazy. Gold. Lasting cream head. Its decent. Has some malt. Moderate hop on the finish. Decent carbonation. Very drinkable. Liked it.

Clear, copper colored, small+ beige head. Aroma is of malt, grains, some smoke. Taste is medium sweet malty, bit of grains, some caramel and light to moderate smoked notes, medium to light herbal bitterness. Light+ bodied, soft carbonation, bit watery. Quite decent rauchbier.

*Old rating, best before 23.11.11. The beer starts fresh and smooth. Nice caramel, moderate with nice smoky hints. Easy to drink, nice bittered.

Many thanks for this beer to Beerhunter111. Pours a cloudy yellow color. Aroma of banana, yeast, a hint o clove and some lactic.

50cl bottle from the brewpub. Pourz hazy golden colour with a big good lasting white head. aroma of ripe banana, yeast and some clove. Taste of yeat, spicy, mild banana and clove, okay!
