Bottle from Meibier. Buttery aroma with caramel malt. Notes of honey. Moderate sweet with a light bitterness. Meh, too buttery and sweet. Reminds me of Lithuanian traditional beers.

0.5l bottle courtesy of... unsure, Ryan? Fil? Thanks anyway for sharing! Hazy brown body, off-white head. Buttery, bit nutty aroma. Smokey taste, sweet, bit bacony, vague bitterness. Okay, but the aroma puts me off slightly.

Tap at HopDog. Very cloudy deep orange with a thick head. Light orange and lemon in the nose, light doughy malt. Lemon and orange flavors, estery, biscuity malt, full body. Silky, with low carbonation. Very subtle and delicate. doesn't hit hard, but super drinkable.

Pours a semi-transparent amber, with a rather big frothy white head; recedes relatively quick though and leaves little lacing. Low to medium intensity in the aroma: caramel malts, hints of honey, timid smoked notes (wood, ashes), quite vivid (at least in the overall balance) floral hops. Taste notes follow the aroma closely. Smokiness is quite low per style while there's more bitterness than usual, especially in the dry finish/aftertaste. Lacks the full feeling that malts and smoked notes usually give to rauchbiers. Light to medium bodied, pretty low carbonation (probably a bit lower than usual); drinks easily, feels slightly oily. Ok, but doesn't work for me.

1 September 2023. At Gasthof 3 Linden, Bamberg. Cheers to Domien, Eduard & Maarten!

A: clear golden-orange, small, foamy, off-white head.
A: dust, musty cellar, rotten orange, wet biscuit, straw, barnyard with cows on it, butter.
T: sweet old apple, pear, biscuit, butter, straw, cellar.
F: old grassy hops, bitter yeast, straw, dust.
P: medium body, slick texture, average carbonation.
Intense Keller, which is evidently not always the case; so 'bad' it's good.
