Description
Built out of an old dairy facility and originally situated next to a laundromat, Pulpit Rock Brewing opened its bay doors during the summer of '15. Founded by four Luther alumni, fueled by two head-brewers and driven by a small taproom team, this modest brewery embraces the opportunity to produce and serve exciting and innovative beers.

With a rotating tap list that balances classic styles, unabashed hop-enthusiasm and adventurous flavor-infusions, we aim to provide our guests with a spectrum of tastes and experiences.

On tap at Pulpit Rock, pours a clear pale blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out crisp biscuity malt and light herbal notes. Flavour is along the same lines, with crisp biscuity malt, grass, and a herbal character. Clean and punchy. Nicely done.

Tap. Pours very hazy pink, small pink white, head, sinew lacing. Aroma is full of banana, strawberry, lactose, smoothie. Fair bit of sweetness, huge fruit. Medium body. Holy hell, if you buy it in cans remember to refrigerate and drink promptly. I just opened one a few months old that turned into a Beercano and ended up with about 3/4 of the beer down the sink drain. Kinda surprised it didn't rupture.

American strong ale ‘fruited’ with raspberry, blueberry and blackberry, thanks tderoeck for sharing. Loose, egg-white head, in practice not much more than some loose bubbles around the edge but this is undoubtedly due to the fact that the bottle had been open for quite some time; lightly hazy amberish copper-bronze robe with warm vermillion red glow. Aroma of ‘Roosvicée’ and, weirdly, strong pomegranate, next to caramel candy, mandarin, red apple, rosé wine and a grenadine-like whiff of ripe red raspberry or indeed sweet blackberry. Sweetish onset, lots of fructose from ripe berries, with a mild fruit acidity to it; typical softly sweet-spicy blueberry flavour mingled with raspberry and blueberry again forms a combo I find reminiscent of pomegranate. Supple, slick, softly carbed body, cereally and a bit caramelly-nutty in its core, drenched in ripe, more-sweet-than-sour fruitiness lingering in the finish, hightlighted by a soft glow of brandy-ish alcohol. Bit thinnish, simply sweetish and straightforward for a strong fruit beer containing actual berries, in itself an interesting one but not my personal cup of tea. Comparable with the strong ‘apéritif’ beers in Belgium containing fruit without becoming overly sweet fruit candy, but that specific category is not really my cup of tea either…

F: big, tan, not long lasting. C: amber, hazy. A: malty, very candy like, fruity sweet, kids fruity candy, chewing gum. T: orange, tangerine, tutti frutti, candy, actually not so sweet as I expected from aroma with almost refreshing taste, medium body and carbonation, controversial beer for sure, sample from 75cl bottle @ RBBSG 10/2018.
