Description
In the Wild East, you have to work together. Therefore three friends joined forces and started to brew beer in the old smithery of Purtse castle. Their holy desire was to make beer so good that you would become sad when the glass started to empty.

The men of Purtse do not hold annual press conferences in Narva, nor do they give empty promises about improving everyday life of Ida-Virumaa. They are doing it here and now, because they like it wild in here.

(Bottle, 0.33 l, at pre HBF2017 Saturday tasting, thanks Marduk) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, ash and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, cocoa, floralness, burnt malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, burnt and bitter. A rather sweet brew with burnt malts.

Huge thanks to Erzengel for sharing! Pours quite dark brown colour with a huge most good lasting creamy tan head. Aroma of sweet malt, dark malt, some roasted coffee. Taste of sweet and dark malt, tons of chocolate, vanilla, lactose, hints of nuts, quite nice!

Tap at st. Vitus. Pours dark amber with beige head. Aroma is hoppy, caramel, citrus, burnt sugar. Flavor is sweet and bitter, caramel, citrus, malt, sugar, slight butter. Finish is citric bitter and sugar. Overall: too sweet, but drinkable. Rather similar to eksperimentaal iii, but seems less hoppy.

Many thanks to my Secret EU-Santa martjoobolut for this bottle! Roasted dry caramelly nose. The beer starts dry with great intense roast. Smooth and soft with a nice hop floral bitterness, that fits good into the Golding-Profile. The roasted malt harmonises very well, intense round and fresh bitter ending. A great and sessionable deep stout with lots of aroma. Great!

Pours nice clear amber, really beautiful persistent white foam. Aroma is sweetish-fruity, tropical and not overly rough at all, rather mild. Taste is clean, fruity and sweetish. Surprising me with cleanliness and nice balance between hops and malt profile. Very pleasant to drink, although for some reason aftertaste falls a bit off and reveals some booze and bit of nail polish. Shame, otherwise this could be really great, now it is just good.

33cl bottle from Väike Roosa Õllepood, Kristiine. Pours almost clear dark amber with a modest, off-white head. Hoppy, fruity and malty with a fair amount of caramel, ripe fruits and hints of citrus and spices. Medium sweet and too much caramel for my taste, but fairly drinkable. Not to much bitterness, but fair enough. --- Beer merged from original tick of Eksperimentaal III on 25 Dec 2016 at 19:27 - Score: 5

Bottle (as Belgian Golden sTrong Ale Willamette), batch 2016004, BB 01.12.2017 (from UJH). Pours golden with whiteish head. The head stays for some moments. Aroma is sweet, fruity, citrus, spices, pears. Flavor is sweet and bitter, sugar, fruits, citrus. Finish is dry bitter and booze. Overall: ok, bit rough and simple Belgian, but I don’t mind. This concludes Purtse beers for the moment. I will try to pretend that amber ales (and brown ales) don’t exist, maybe then they will go away...

Bottle (as Sweet Stout English Golding Milk Sugar), BB 01,12.2017, batch 2016005 (from UJH). Pours dark brown. Aroma is sweet, roast, oats, lactose, malt. Flavor is very sweet, bitter, roast, malt, sugar, smoke, ashtray. Finish is treacle and ashtray with some burnt notes. Body feels too thin. Overall: ok, if you don’t mind sippin’ syrup from the ashtray (it seems that I don’t mind it).
