Phil learned how to craft cider in Zummerset. Oo-arr. But he’s come a long way since then. All the way to Berwick-upon-Tweed, in fact, where Northumberland meets Scotland. Tucked away on farms and estates around the Borders he found orchards producing fruit that’s perfect for ciders of character.

BIAB at Darlintgon Snooker Club Beer Festival May 2022. Orange gold colour, afew bubbles on top and aroma of sweet passionfruit. Taste is sweet, fruity, passionfruit, pineapple, apple, biscuity, some tartness. Medium bodied, low carobnation, sweet finish. Quite OK

BIAB at Darlington Snooker Club Beer Festival May 2022. Slightly hazy orange golden colour, thin white rim and aroma of apple, fruity, mucky funk. Taste is sweetish, tangy, apple, fruity, mucky, funky, barnyard, with drying tannins. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry tannic finish. Nicely drinkable.

Panda at home, thanks to SHIG, 05/05/22. Lightly hazed orange with a reddish glint, little in the way of a head. Nose is apple skins, pineapple, grass, tropical fruit punch, light herb. Taste comprises sweet apples, pineapple juice, mixed tropical fruits, grass, light orchard wood. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close. Not bad for a fruit cider.

1.5 Lt Bag: Poured a murky orange with a white bubble head. Aroma is pineapple, apples, passionfruit. Taste is semi-sweet, apples, with that pineapple acidic bite and passionfruit twist.

BIAB at Newcastle Beer & Cider Festival 09Apr2022. Bright orangey gold colour, no head and aroma of rose water, floral, apple. Taste is turkish delight, floral rose water, with fruity, apple and citric acidity. Medium bodied, low carbonation, drying finish. Quite OK

Draught from BIAB at Newcastle Beer & Cider Festival 09Apr2022. Black colour with green tinge, no head and aroma of fruit, berry hint. Taste is fruity apple, berry hint, tangy, with some drying tannins. Medium bodied, low carbonation, dry fruity finish. Quite drinkable, although suspect the black colour is an addition.

Draught from BIAB at Newcastle Beer & Cider Festival 09Apr2022. Amber gold colour, no head and aroma of apple, fruit. Taste is apple, mellow, fruity, with vanilla hints and barrel notes. Medium bodied, low carbonation, medium finish. Quite drinkable.
