From a 500ml can on 26/7/2021. Pours a murky light golden with a medium head. The nose features lots of citrus and tropical fruit, and spice. The taste features masses of pineapple and orange with a big tangy spicy bitterness. The mouthfeel is slick and a touch creamy, the carbonation moderate to average. Truly lovely stuff.
Rating 8.2 (8.7% abv)
Re-rate on 5/11/2025 (current version). Just exceptional, and way more impressive than the last time (which was still great). Arguably the best oat cream I've ever had.

From a 355ml can on 20/7/2021. Pours a hazy light golden with a small head. The nose is a touch green and herbal with some muted tropical fruit notes. Tastes of pineapple and a bit of passion fruit, finishing with a modest spicy bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Solid enough but lacks a bit of definition and punch.

From a 500ml can on 15/7/2021. Pours a cloudy light golden with a biggish head. Has a big tropical fruit salad nose. The taste is huge - sweet and tropical with mango, pineapple, melon and papaya. Finishes with a lovely, slightly spicy bitterness that balances things out perfectly. The mouthfeel is creamy and pillowy, the carbonation moderate. A sublime, truly outstanding, huge yet easy drinking hazy.

From a 500ml can on 16/7/2021. Pours a slightly hazy light golden with a small to medium head. Has a relatively light but pleasant passion fruit and lychee nose. Tastes of orange, melon, lychee and passion fruit, with a very firm citric bitterness, with oodles of rind and grapefruit. The mouthfeel is silky, the carbonation moderate. A supremely balanced, complex and truly lovely brew.

From a 500ml can on 11/7/2021 (shared with Butz). Pours a deep brown with small head. The nose has some chocolate, coconut, banana and cinnamon. Similalrly, tastes of milk and dark chocolate, banana and cinnamon, with a bit booze and roast bitterness at the back. The mouthfeel is syrupy, the carbonation moderate. Very good but not great. And disappointed at the lack of sediment given the suggestion to not pour the last 30.

Amber with a good inch of off white head that lasts OKish. 3+ Rather thin and weedy aroma with some nuts and grass. There's a little breadcrust upon a taste but not much of an illusion of richness, then rather modest slightly spicy bitterness. It's fine but tentative.

From a 500ml can on 20/5/2020. Pours a deep brown with a medium light tan head. Has a fairly strong cocoa/hot chocolate nose. Tastes of chocolate cocoa, with a touch of vanilla and caramel in the mix. Medium to high sweetness with a fairly mild bitter finish, the mouthfeel is a touch creamy, the carbonation moderate. Not overly complex, but very nicely put together and very enjoyable.

Ah, a beer inspired by the Freak Shake, supposedly a Canberra thing. A friend of mine was in a sporting club that had an annual trophy for the member whose behaviour was most depraved and grotesque. There were many worthy entries, the proviso being that no behaviour that sought The HubCap was eligible. And that is the problem with putting a doughnut on a stick on whipped cream on a milkshake in a glass mug: performative decadence doesn't count for anything. Can. Very dark brown. A tan head very soon retreats to the rim. Aroma is slightly boozy with praline, Bounty, mocha. Encouraging it doesn't smell overwhelmingly sweet. Smooth, lowish carbonation. No obvious lactose (always a relief). Lots of chocolate and coconut. Has a bit of a fake nutty/ caramel feel that's kept in check at first but let's see how the big can goes. The coconut/ mocha/ slight roast/ bitterness hangs together pretty well, managing to be rich & decadent without being cloying. But it nags after a while - perhaps a 500ml can shared amongst four would suit.

From a 500ml can on 3/5/2021. Pours a hazy medium golden with a small head. The aroma is light and fruity. On the sip, there's a good dash of mango, apricot and peach sweetness, along with a bit of breakfast cereal, followed by a restrained bitterness with a touch of grass and spice. The mouthfeel is pillowy with a bit of creaminess, the carbonation moderate. Very nice stuff - lovely balance and super approachable.
