Description
A team of Faroese entrepreneurs are collaborating on building the islands’ latest brewery, located in the country’s capital, Tórshavn.

The breweryis called OY, a shortened word for “oyggj(ar)”, which means “island(s)”.

OY’s production capacity stands at approximately 1.2 million litres. In Faroese terms, it will be one of the islands’ biggest breweries. Internationally, it qualifies as a microbrewery.

OY will look to establish itself in the Faroe Islands first and foremost. In time, the plan is to start exporting its products.

Initially, OY will primarily focus on brewing and selling mainstream beers like pilsner, strong beer, IPA, and cider. Once those are up and running, special beers will also be added to OY’s beer catalogue. OY will function as a brewpub, offering beer tasting and tours, and will include a small shop with OY merchandise.

Poured from the tap @ MBCC 2023 (finally adding my notes). Dark brown with small beige head. Roast malt with a hint of liquorice. Okay.

Can 33 cl. Pours a hazy golden with a small, white head. Sweet, malty nose. Solid body, sweet maltiness with a subdued bitterness. Simple yet pleasant. 091024
