Description
Brass Castle commenced brewing in a garage as a commercial home brewer in August 2011 initially in Pocklington, East Yorkshire. In December 2013 they relocated to Malton, North Yorkshire and expanded to a 10BBL plant. Over time, new tanks arrived and a Taphouse was established next door. Success, friends, family and the odd bank loan have got us where we are now.
The brewery has always pushed itself to brew interesting beers, under the very deliberate constraint of doing so without the use of animal products. In turn, this caused Brass Castle to develop a house yeast strain and specialised processes that could guarantee the final product. From December 2017, every beer brewed at Brass Castle has been based on a gluten-free beer recipes – on the basis that beer should be made available to as many people as possible. Most recently, the brewery invested in canning line and carbonation tanks, to spread the beers further than they have gone before.

Panda at home, thanks to the Fergus, 10/04/21. Almost clear golden blonde with a good sized white head. Nose is lime jelly, orange pith, grass, melon, mixed tropical fruits. Taste comprises sweet malts, lime leaf, grass, coconut shavings, pineapple. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close splashed with balanced Sabro laden hop bitterness. Runs a little too sweet for my liking.

Can at home picked up from HOTM. A mostly clear golden yellow coloured pour with a fine white head. Aroma is nice vibrant sabro hop, white grape, coconut, green citrus. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, rounded, light wheat, grape jelly, green jelly babies, creamy coconut. Palate is soft and rounded, fine carbonation, light grainy bite in the finish. Decent sabro action.

Hazy golden beer, thin white head. Bready, apricot-y aroma. You get the yeast in the flavour of this, as well apricot, some grassy hop. Not that hefty a flavour but I like how it's balanced and that the apricot is distinct, has a very light saison-y feel to it too.

Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - deep brown to black and opaque. Close to tan head. Nose - bit peanut and hazelnut note which then seems to be engulfed with the sweet banana. Not getting anything that resembles bacon. Taste - more sweet banana and loads of nuts again. Palate - creamy texture sweet middle and finish. Overall - good, if a little sweet for my taste.
