Boozy raisin on the nose. Thinnish, oily. Raisin, caramel, date on the palate, sweet and somewhat boozy. Smooth, nice alcohol warmth. Really nice.
EB from MBCC weekend in Copenhagen. Barr restaurant visit. Four course dinner with beers.

Bottle #41675 imported from the continent. The aroma is rich and unctuous, oily, sticky, fudgey, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, candied peel, marzipan, panettone, fruit cake, oak, spice and leather. The taste is slick, oily, unctuous, sticky, bitter - sweet, pleasing alcohol warmth, raisin, sultana, candied peel, toffee, fudge, nutty, panettone, fruit cake, oak, leather, toothy, spice, earth and light tannin with a drying, warming finish. Fulsome body, fine carbonation and thick, oily mouth - feel. Coats the mouth. A really nice traditional style barley wine. Drinks very well.

Thanks to Tangorod and zid for multiple bottles of fresh Thomas Hardy Ale. I have had many aged ones over the years.
Bottle number 42379.
It pours a hazy red, small head of foam that shrinks to a ring around the glass.
Smells of piney hops, caramel malt, more caramel malt, toffee, oak and vanilla.
Taste follows, much caramel malt with a cutting pine like bitterness, dark fruits, didn't get that in the smell but most welcome, toffee, oak, raisins, a bit nutty, some of the ample alcohol.
Close to full bodied, carbonation is not quite light, not quite medium, somewhere in between.
Good lord, even fresh, this is a taste to behold, or to put it another way, a taste to relish!
Only time will tell if this new rendition will stand the test of time like the Eldridge Pope beers; for my fellow beer drinkers who have enjoyed the aged Thomas Hardys in the past, I hope so!
Heavy, but supremely smooth scotch flavor. Nice warming finish. Amazing! Bottle no. 23158

275ml bottle (#24658). Not much of a pssst on opening. It pours deep - reddish brown with only a vague hint of a head. The aroma is rich and oily, earthy, booze soaked oak, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, date, figgy pudding, fruit cake, more brandy than whisky really and a touch of vanilla. The taste is drying and toothy initially, big hit of whisky, fruit & nut chocolate bar, plenty of dried fruit, fig, date, prune, boozy kick, spice, oaky tannins, slick and oily, fruit cake, black bun, plum wine and slightly burnt toasted malts with a drying, booze soaked finish. Fulsome body, low carbonation and oily mouth feel. Lacks a bit of condition, which is a shame. Enjoyable nonetheless. Grows on you.

33 cl bottle @ home. BBE 19.09.2027. Bottle# 22854 of vintage 2018. Vertical with O’Hanlon’s version from 2008 (#06021) to celebrate my 40th birthday and 10000 ratings! Aroma is surprisingly mild with ripe fruits and sweet raisiny tones. Almost no carbonation at all. Flavour has ripe fruits and raisins. Finishes with warming alcohol and sugary licorice. Quite nice slow sipper.
