About
Sörműves Kft.

Horizont Brewing is an innovative, indepentent craft brewery, one of the first big names in the craft brewing scene in Hungary. With many medals earned, we are proud to announce that Horizont Brewing was the first mid-European brewery to win the Alltech Craft Beer Cup in 2017 in Dublin. The Sailor Belle, a Belgian Witbier fermented with Saison yeast, is still one of our bestsellers.

What we like is the versatility of our consumers. Our beers are gladly consumed by beer connoisseurs and everyday beer drinkers, and we created our beer portfolio to fulfill everyone's beer needs. Our beers are available in all Michelin star restaurants in Hungary and can be found in most of the craft beer bars around Budapest.

We believe brewing is an art form.

We try expressing that through our labels as well not only by whats inside on the bottles. For that reason we worked with a local artist who created artworks we used on our labels, specifically capturing the essence of the character of the beer on the canvas.

Bottle shared with Marko. Pours deep brown with a thin beige head. Nose is booze, dried fruits, dark malts, some wood. Taste is intense sweetness, showing notes of booze, dark malts, nuts and dried fruits, some whisky’s definitely in there. Long lasting sweet boozy and malty finish, some whisky also appears. Its body is surprisingly light, and altogether lacks something. It’s not quite there with the rum barrel version.

Can from the Horizont guys, thanks a lot! Pours almost glowing hazy yellow with white head. Nose is intense tropical and stonefruits with a touch of fruity esters. Taste is nice fruity upfront, tons of tropical notes but the finish is bone dry and it really emphasizes bitterness that's just too much. Light, somewhat sticky body and soft carbo, easy to drink.

Can from the Horizont bois, thanks a lot! Pours hazy yella with no white head. Now this is interesting as it shows literally no coconut notes. And I mean it's not that the added coconut flakes didnt show, but even the Sabro's coconut-like characteristics weren't present for some reason. All in all a decent, but painfully average hazy IPA, which is genuinely surprising as the guys at Horizont really know how to make a proper NEIPA. Weird.

Bottle at home, courtesy of Jose and Petra, thanks a lot guys! Pours glowing orange colour with no head, looks like juice really. Not surprisingly sea buckthorn really is all over this, both in aroma and taste, leaving little to no space for anything else. Pretty sour, and perhaps a bit one dimensional, but very nicely rounded. I’m not too fond of sea buckthorn tho.

Can, courtesy of Balazs, koszi szepen! Pours hazy yellow with white head. Nose is nice tropical fruits, light tartness from the passion fruit and a touch of sweetness too. Taste is moderately tart altogether, again perfectly balanced between the two fruits used, closing with a nice, lightly sour finish. Some citric notes also appear in there. Light bodied with soft carbo, easy to drink. Lovely.

Tap. Deep, opaque copper pour with an off-white head. Nose is pine, low fruits, some caramely malts. Taste is restrained bitterness, faint fruity tones to it too and sweetish malts. Closes with a bitterish finish, has light body and average carbonation. Not particularly fresh, but it’s likely on the restaurant.

Can, koszi szepen TD! Pours deep, semi opaque golden with white head. It’s interesting cause I’ve had many beers that were “more grapefruity” even without the actual fruit added. It’s pretty similar to their sabro-coconut NEIPA that was way less coconuty than many NEIPAs that were brewed with Sabro but witout actual coconut. Anyway this is a fairly decent west coast, citric bitterness, dry body, a touch of citrus zest are what deecribe it best. It’s just not quite outstanding is all.

Can at home, köszi TD! Vivid orange pour, quickly disappearing white head. Nose is tropical fruity and hoppy. Taste is sour and somewhat bitter, passion fruit and hops characterise it mostly. Closes with a bitter finish, there's actually even some hopburn. Light to medium bodied, drinks below the ABV, with a soft carbonation.

Can shared at home, courtesy of the Hori crew. Pours a copperish orange with thin, lacing head. Nose is orange zest, marmalade and pine with fruity hints. Taste is sweet, boozy, with zesty, grassy notes and fruity touches here and there. The sweet and bitter balance is nicely executed. Closes with a waming, sweet finish with some bitterness to it. It has a huuuge body and soft carbo, classic zipper. More of an American barley wine for me than an IPA but I dig it.

Taste is low to moderately bitter, showing fresh cut grass, light fruits, citrus zest and faint pine.
