Black with a creamy, beige head. Aroma of ashes. There’s an understated hoppy note too—in the direction of flowers and ink—but on the whole not a lot to sniff. Taste is roasted bitter. Bitter dark chocolate too with a faint tartness on the side. Medium-bodied, mild carbonation. Rich and chewy—goes down nicely. Decent.

Bottle at the RBESG 23 grand tasting. Murky amber body, off-white head. Caramel, dried fruit and orange in the aroma. Lean, caramelly, perfumey taste, big yeasty presence, light bitterness. Hm. Liked it, my notes just aren't great.
