Chelmsford Winter Fest. Clear pale gold beer. Light palate. Light fruity hop, no bitterness. A hint of sulphur that seems to plague so many Golden Ales. Light sweet orange and citrus. Not bad.

Chelmsford Winter Fest. Clear gold beer! Smooth soft palate. Low carbonation with a light syrupy feel. Rich marmalade orange and dried fruits. Finishes dry with orange liquer and more marmalade hop. Warming! Normally I would be all over a beer like this but this one doesn’t quite ring right for a barleywine. Not bad though.

Brown colour. Sweet, fruity, malty aroma and a touch of hop too. The taste is quite rich. It’s sticky sweet and warming from the alcohol. The hop present in the aroma comes through in the aftertaste too.

Cask@Reading Beer Festival 2012. Golden colour with a small head. Aroma is bready, floral, caramelly and a bit rubbery. Flavour is fruity, floral, hoppy with some sweet maltyness a well. A bit thin in the palate, but otherwise nice flavour.

Cask@Reading Beer Festival 2012. Yellowish golden colour with not too much head. Aroma is citrus, wood and some herbs. Flavour is fruity, caramelly, wooden with some nectary and sweet malty notes.

Crosse Keys Spoons. Clear dark amber beer. Light dry palate. A little dry dark malt, very mild roast. Whisper of smoke. Pleasant berry fruits provide nice contrast. Finishes dry with more mild dark roast.

Cask at the Waggon and Horses, Halesowen. Pours gold with a small head. Aroma is light straw with a little citrus. Taste has a little pineapple to start with a straw and biscuit finish.

Cask at The Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Pours clear, rich brown with a weak, foamy head. Mild toasty malts and ripe fruits in the nose. Light to mediums sweet flavor with light toast and semi-dark fruits. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Mild sweet finish with faint, dry leaves. Very basic but a nice mild overall.

Cask stillage at the Grape and Grain Spring Beer Festival 2012, Crystal Palace. Mahogany pour with a white head. Malty aroma of raisins and toffee. Sweet malt flavour, bit of treacle and toffee in there. Light bitter-malt finish.
