Description
First Chop the award winning brewery sprung from humble beginnings. Created by chef, creative and restauranteur Richard Garner, the beer was originally born from his acclaimed bar and restaurant of the same name in North Manchester.
Borrowing use of a local micro brewery, Rik deep dived into his passion for inspirational and quality flavour combos and found that he had created a craft beer range with a fresh approach and instant demand. Within 6 months the demand was such that borrowing a brewery was no longer an option and the First Chop Brewing Arm was born.

First Chop initially settled under a Salford railway arch and combined the fledgling brewery with a rootsy live music, club and arts space at the heart of the Manchester scene. After many events, the site was sadly wiped out by a fire but Rik was on a roll with his beer and set up a new (permanent) home for the brand in nearby Eccles.

Gravity cask at the Birmingham CAMRA Beer Festival 2015. Poured a crystal clear straw colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is light fresh hop, almost green hop. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a light citrus hop palate. Light bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle courtesy of Geraint and Helen Consumed at home Sunday 22nd November 2015 Crystal clear gold with a filmy white head, if one was being picky you might suggest that there is a little haze. For the abv this shines quite nicely, the bitterness sticks throughout, it is pleasantly citrussy, ok itโ€™s a bit thin at times but it is only 3.5% which even by UK standards is quite weak. Nice golden ale. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.4

Cask @ Victorian Craft Beer Cafe, Halifax. Golden with a thinnish head. Hoppy, and a touch dry, itโ€™s not overly stated in its tropical fruitiness, although itโ€™s still flavoursome.
